Default 996 Horsepower (No Mezgers Allowed)

I think that engine output, including peak power IS important.

If we're going to talk about power bands, flat torque curves and BIG peak numbers, dyno graphs should form the basis of those conversations. Why wouldn't they ? What else should ?

So, let's see those higher than stock HP 996's. Share the mods you've done or not. Share how much you spent to get there, or not. There's a lot to be learned by the sharing and discussion of dyno graphs - I hope some people have seen that first hand on other forums and will help encourage, and participate in bringing some of that community knowledge gathering here.

RULES (we're not savages)

1. No Mezgers, any and all other engines allowed and encouraged, any displacement, power adder or combination of power adders also good to go.
2. Must post a chassis dyno graph, if the dyno MFG isn't overlaid on the graph, please add to your post.
3. If you're a MFG, No Development Mules, must be an engine, or parts combo that you sell or is otherwise commercially available. AND, cost of parts, or engine should be included in your post or readily available through your, or others web store.

The more info the better.. but I wanted to keep it easy as an encouragement for people to just post what they got to stimulate discussion.

It will be interesting to see another dyno with a muffler system and see if there is a increase in torque at 2700 rpm.

2.7K pretty low in the RPM range, not an RPM I think there should be a big concern over power, at least, not a place I would put any priority on power at the sacrifice of anywhere else. Agree though, he's got a lot of the mods people generally say are not great for torque, in his case, looks good to me through.

From 3600- 5500 to have nice torque and the peak power seems strong. Would be hard pressed to say his mods aren't working. Looks like the power just starts dipping before shutting it down, I wonder what it would look like if he ran it out another 500RPM.

Thanks for posting dude.

I like this idea. I think it would also be cool to see what HP output looks like on a stock or fairly stock motor after about 20 years of use. In other words, how is the M96 coping with power over time and how close is it to original power. In case anyone did a before and after dyno when adding any mods....

I agree with you, especially with mods that are listed. but for a everyday car It would be interesting to see the difference.... the 02 had bypass pipes (Fabspeed) and was a miserable car to drive in San Fransisco traffic and very noticeable when we put muffler back on.

I did try baffles before removing the bypass and was a little improvement,

Just want to say there is 0 chance I would have the exhaust this way if I were driving on the street. It hurts your ears without a helmet on and draws way too much attention. It is LOUD!

I think that having Mezger's would be great too.
Always nice to see how an M96.2 3.8 or M96.3 4.x build stacks up against Porsche's "best", the M96.79 and the M96.70.

The impetus for the thread was what people are getting for results, tuning, rebuilding or swapping their non turbo/GT 996.

That being the case, if you swapped a mezger into your non turbo/GT car, it is inline with the spirit of the thread so post away.

I don't think that is a particularly fair comparison. With a few clicks I can have 420, 450, or 500 HP.
