Pete, I am so sorry you have to deal with this. You seem like a mentally pretty tough guy, so no doubt in my mind you will get thru the healing process quickly. Damn...

Oh holy crap - no way I'm a weenie and I ride on bike-dedicated trails. I need to watch out for stray dogs, toddlers, joggers, and on certain trails some jackasses on four wheelers or dirt bikes that are using the paved trail instead of the hundreds of square miles of desert wilderness their machines are built for. Glad you're ok Pete that is some scary stuff...

Thanks gents - appreciate it. Being a cyclist and a car guy I'm always very conscious and aware of my surroundings and all road users and my rides take me miles outside of the city. Ironically this happened 4 miles away from home in a residential area and it's just a risk I take every time I go outside. I think this is a reason why gravel cycling has taken off so much in recent years as it takes you on quiet country roads.

love those. So yesterday the pork butt turned out pretty good, the black beans were great but can’t still compare to my moms. While we where eating listening to music in patio number two came up with solution to take 250 lbs of weight from my car for tomorrow’s drive the concourse de elegance in Kemah Texas, about a 150 mile rd trip for me. My wife’s is staying at home and I’m taking my “mistress “ Jackie our 18 soon to be 19 chihuahua rat terrier, two awesome benefits, weight reduction, number two and most important to me my dog lets me drive triple digits. Today since it’s lent, grilled shrimp over house made salad, choices of blue cheese, hidden valley ranch and Cesar dressings with garlic bread.

15-20 per lb shrimp on skewers.

Porsche Parts garage and yes, spare tire is out, part of the 250 lbs off plan.

My copilot for tomorrow’s trip.

Color on butt was awesome, pretty good smoked ring too.

Black beans with potatoes and ham hocks, still can’t make them as good as my moms.

That was what a plate would look for serving.

Glad to hear you are recovering Pete. I have thought about getting into cycling and that's what has kept me out. I know way to many people that have been hit, especially in recent years. Way too many people out there texting and not paying attention while driving. My old boss' husband nearly lost his arm and had to get emergency surgery after getting side swiped and thrown into some metal garbage cans while riding.

I used to ride motorcycles, I always enjoyed the enduros because of their dual purpose. Then I realized the danger and no more bikes for me. The smoker I use was from my neighbor of twenty years, he went on a Sunday Harley ride and never came back, he was run off the road. My brother also had a sporttest or sportsman’s, the small Harley and after a near miss incident, no more. Then my nephew againts my brothers opinion gets an electric bike, it was Christmas 2 years ago. Two days latter they were scheduled to go visit my mother. That same day he got into an accident, broke his leg in three places. My brother was seeing blood. My nephew a soccer superstar had private coaching, 3 weekly practices and competitive games at least once a weekend. Tournaments all over the states. My brother that’s the surgeon with the Gt3 have been spending all that time and money with my nephew and then all of the sudden this could go down the toilet. Anyway my nephew is back full speed and thanks to professional courtesies my brother got him the best medical care and rehab training. My nephew it’s extremely fast, I seen him score 4 goals in a game, but the most awesome in my opinion was that on a regulation size court he scored from midfield. I go fast on 4 wheels but feel safe while doing it. 2 wheels no that much.

I miss riding motorcycles almost every day. The smell of the grass being the ONLY thing on my mind other than exactly what I planned to do in the next seconds as I rip by a New England farm.

I have told people who ask what I am trying to do with my car that the build of my 996 has been based around facilitating THAT state of being where the ONLY thing that matters is the next couple of seconds, and they really matter, so make them count.

Thanks a lot! And Louis is right - being on two wheels definitely puts you at a higher risk. I think that's why mountain biking and gravel has been so popular as of late as it takes you away from those roads. I think it's a combination of what you said re. people not paying attention while driving and road aggression, which I feel is just lack of education and awareness of other road users. Our roads were not designed taking into consideration any other road user than a car. That's slowly changing with more bike lanes but it's a long way from being where it should. That said, I'm very much aware there are many bone headed cyclists that blow through stop signs and etc not helping the situation. At the end of the day we're all trying to get somewhere, have families and one is travelling in a 3000lb+ steel capsule while the other is not so things are not exactly even.

Louis - you should sharing some of those recipes. Summer is almost here!

Jason since you seem pretty unorthodox to me, you should have done a rotary engine, 12000 rpms with a huge turbo , I seen a few of those in Puerto Rico. Anyway, good luck in your new engine venture.

Ouch! Sorry. I'm looking into the Varia and Cycliq now.

Gravel, road, groad, unicycle...I like them all but lift access is my favorite

Interesting. Must be a Meghan and Harry fan that took offense. Kinda funny if you think about it.
