Welp… still working on the VW and needed to get a boot fixed sooo I’ve been using the 996 for the daily. The car has been really nice to drive except the frunk lock mechanism doesn’t always unlock. I drive to Melbourne often since my family lives there and noticed a slight vibration at speed, went to a local Discount Tire to get the tires balanced and this is what the tech found.

Looks like a punch maybe? Anyway the tire is patched and all of them balanced, car rides better now. Took advantage of the holiday season sale and bought a carbon side mirror set from Rennline. Should be sometime next week and I’ll be leaving again for work next month so the mirrors will be the last thing I do for 2024.

Here are some pics taken around my parents house.

3. The back end shot is art. I think your have a narrow body car? Hard to tell from that shot as it looks wider, maybe just a great angle.

4. Amazing 996, thank you for sharing.

Thanks guys. If everything goes well my next deployment… she’s going to look a little different. Hopefully I’ll get the GT3 Cup bumper or redo the interior. Carbon roof is on the list.

The wheel is a custom wrapped wheel that I got locally. She’s indeed a narrow body car and you’re very welcome.

Man this car can be pretty random… like an idler pulley blowing up after some spirited driving. Floored it around 15mph, it was cold outside but the car was warmed up, then at about 55mph the battery light came on and I lost power steering. Figured I broke a belt when it happened but when I pulled the air box this is what I found.

Just ordered the pulleys and conti belt from FCP, I’ll only be installing the failed pulley because the car is currently at gf’s house which doesn’t allow cars to be worked on.

For as perfect as the RPM Technik Ducktail is, the ends adjacent to the hinges were making contact and didn’t allow me to open the trunk completely. Took advantage of the fact I needed to remove the trunk lid and trimmed the affected area.

Reinstalled the lid this morning and everything lined up perfectly. I was pretty nervous about putting a Dremel to the Evo but the adage of measure twice and cut once has never proved me wrong.

Gorgeous. It must suck to have to leave it, but I guess it will make you enjoy it all the more when you're back .. I think you meant 22 tho? Unless, that car has a flux capacitor...? Doc is that you?
