Get well soon!

Yeah, I really like the looks of the carbon fiber mirror shells from Rennline.
My only "complaint" was that the nice looking "shiny" carbon fiber side didn't go farther inside.
You can see the end of the "shiny" carbon fiber near the edge of the mirror.
Perhaps this was because of clearance, but if they had gone another inch inside it would be perfect.
But these mirror shells are a HUGE improvement over the typical carbon fiber mirror "covers" available from china.
Not just the looks of the carbon fiber, but the Rennline mirror shells are the entire OEM-like part and not a stick-on cover.
They are also MUCH cheaper than the OEM or DB-Carobn CF shell!

Get well soon. Drink water, Sleep. You've heard it a million times.

Newb carbon questions:
-What makes the shiny surface? Is it the flatness of the mold or does someone polish after the molding?
-Seems like this would have to be handmade. How many pieces does a person need to build before they know how to lay each piece and get the pattern to look amazing? Or maybe it doesn't matter.

It's a combo of both but I believe these are prepreg/dry vs wet which is more like how you lay fiberglass while dry has resin in the fibers and requires an autoclave to bake. Both require plugs and both get polished afterwards.

I agree on the quality vs the alternatives. I tried sourcing a set of OEMs but could only find the driver's side so the Rennline will do well.

Do all 3 btw... I kinda pissed myself off when I realized I ordered 2 and not 3 only to find the tensioner pulley to be cracked.

Good call! I'm trying to replace all the little BS that will ruin your day when you're on the road and the pulleys are one. One of my coolant hoses has a crack on the plastic T junction so need to do that too.

amen to that .. I have the philosophy that whatever part of the car I'm working on that i replace all the plastics and rubber of that area.. age had worn out or killed most of that stuff.

Yeah - you're not wrong there! I'll be installing a valved exhaust come spring and am tempted to just replace all the vacuum lines at that point. I've gotten pretty good at removing the intake manifold and could probably do it all with just the driver side plenum out! With these cars being so sensitive to vacuum leaks it might not be the worst idea. I don't trust those rubber junction fittings and plasticky lines.

I've gone as far as replacing the all fender liners and hardware along with some of the undertrays when i replaced all the suspension arms and installed the ohlins... pricey but worth it in the end..

I replaced 2 of the undertrays in late 2021/early 2022.
It was well worth it.
The old ones were brittle and badly cracked and missing some tabs.

All good news now. FCP’s customer service is great, pulley with the correct accessory parts arrived and too all but 45mins to install. The silicon intake tube took more time to install than everything else.

After all of that, went to start the car and the battery was dead. I ordered a battery charger a while back that works with the cigarette lighter and after 2hrs… it got up to 80%.

Lastly, installed the Rennline carbon mirrors. Took around 35mins but I need to get some foam to line the bottom mirror cover that interfaces with the plastic trim piece, the old mirrors had it so I’ll do the same. Saved .6lbs in the process.

Easily and I added a Brumos 59 sticker on the cage so that’s good for at least 7.32HP to the tires.

Welp... I have my deployment date which is the 16th at this moment. Kinda bummed and today is my step kid's 8th bday but my girl now has covid... I tested negative so there shouldn't be any issues traveling. Thanks for the kind words and I feel normal. Rod from Classic 9 sent me some pics and it should be shipped sometime today. Went with the 930 red x-stitch that is 930 era specific and the natural suede/smooth leather pad cover gives it some contrast. Justin is getting my current wheel and I ordered a Momo hub kit and a adapter ring for the 3 bolt Atwie. The more I look at it, the more I want a QD from either Works Bell or a Racetech Group N. For now a regular Momo will be used.
