Now, I have once upon a time used Panama Jack, and Hawaiian Tropic in an engine used for an engine blow contest at a beach themed car show. The engine ran 5 minutes floating the valves at over 8,000 RPM before it failed. It only failed because the camshaft snapped in half, which was due to it being a 40 year old part. Inside the engine everything looked beautiful, and upon teardown it all smelled like the beach.. Nothing was scorched.
I send some of it in for a UOA once, and while it had no viscosity, the additive package was impressive. It may or may not have been used for a qualifying oil once upon a time for two laps around Talladega, but it didn't work as well as the peanut oil, so they swapped back.

This isn't a free technical webinar, this is a sales webinar, but no one will try to "sell" you anything. I did this so I don't have to spend 30 hours a month on the phone with each person, with everyone always wanting the same information. This format uncovers it all, with no BS.

Just wait till you are, then sign up. The content is updated every month, and what you see today will change in just one month. Thats why its important to insure when you are within 18 months of needing the engine, since that's how long the queue is from start to finish. Inquiring early often leads to misinformation, and confusion later, when everything changes.
Some things we host are general info for everyone, this is not one of those- it is only for people that have the safety off, and their finger on the trigger needing the last information before taking the shot.
I have a silly question - I'm not in the market now, but I might be in a few years (especially if I do pick up another 996). My question is - do you think you'll still be doing this in 5-10 years? I know it's hard to predict the future, but I also don't know how old you are/when you want to retire, etc.

My company is heavily invested in these engines, and the industry needs the company. No matter where I go, or what I do- the company will go on. My employees have all been here for years, with my newest engine builder having been here for 15 years. The program is very efficient, and everything is done with checks, and balances. Over the years my team has been coached to play this game my way, and the result has led to a team that performs as well with me, as it does without me. I work for weeks at a time at my R&D facility, then show up to do vehicle inspections and double check QC work. I find that things work better without me there everyday, especially wince my people have tasks assigned a whole year ahead of time, and they know who's engine that'll be building 18 months from today.
I have been on my own program, building R- Series M9X and Aircooled engines for 3 years now, as well as doing R&D like the SUMEBore development. Jud, and my team handle the day to day operations from the main location, while I work in my own world some 2 hours away, at Skunkwerks. I have set everything up to work better without me, than it does with me, and my people are all like gold when it comes to dedication, responsibility, and initiative.
Anyone who starts a project with me will end up with me, that's for sure. Every commitment that I have made will be fulfilled, even if I get hit by a bus.
I too worried that Jake might decide to close up business and I'd miss out.
I decided I was 80% sure I wanted my engine rebuild performed by FSI in 2022.
I attended the webinar, had all of my questions answered before I could ask them.
By the way, FSI would continue even without Jake.
He has hired the right people to make certain of this.
If someone impresses Jake enough with their attention to detail in their work, they're certainly good enough for me!
After the webinar I was 95% sure I wanted to pull the trigger.
I took the weekend to discuss it with my wife and to decide if I was ready to pull the trigger or not.
My wife just said, "I don't care, do what you want to do."
I came up with a couple of more less significant questions, but since Jake had said, "now is the time for questions" I went ahead and asked them.
Jake doesn't want you having ANY questions after you've pulled the trigger, he wants them asked beforehand.
After another day or two of sleepless nights thinking about how awesome a FSI Track Performer engine would be, I pulled the trigger.
One additional expense I hadn't expected, and Jake should really warn people about, is my wife decided to redecorate the house.
Every time she shows me something new she reminds me I'm getting a new engine. Ha!
I'm 110% OK with that!
