That car, to me - Looks like FUN !
Meh, it looks like a fiberglass reproduction with a Subaru engine.
It’s like an AC Shelby Cobra replica with a automatic transmission.

I own a 996, do you really think I care about what people think?
haha
But I’d laugh at anyone driving that cheesy replica 👍

One of Carroll Shelby personnel AC road cobras was a automatic, I wouldn't laugh at him.

Especially since Carroll is dead and buried.

Replica or not, it sounds good. I like it. Looks really good. I give it a thumbs up! It would be a blast to drive spiritiedly. Count me in.

His Beck 550 is stunning, especially parked next to the equally stunning 996 cab.

I love what they have done with that thing! There is a hot rod 911 (964 i think) out there that runs the Subaru engine and it's an incredible build. Who gives a flying you know what if the drive puts a smile on YOUR face!?

The Beck is one of my favorite cars he’s had. Don’t think he’s ever claimed it’s something it’s not. Hate people that try to gate keep hobbies especially from a crowd that’s been told their cars are ugly since the late 90s.

I'd rather have a replica 550 or 356 than the real thing. I can give it modern power and reliability and drive it as much as I want without worrying about plummeting value.

I've built hundreds of engines for Beck replicas. They are great to work with, and Chuck Beck is an old friend who is one hell of a character.

I have a '64 356 Outlaw, I built it to drive, and not be a pristine showpiece. With 227HP it is one hell of a riot to drive.

That sounds great 👍

Is it an original 356 with an air cooled Porsche or VW engine?

or is it a fiberglass replica with a Hyundai engine and Porsche badges on it?

No replicas of anything around here. Its a steel bodied 356 that has 116,000 race miles on the chassis. It is powered by a Raby engine. I've been waiting for the right buyer to knock on the door, of course selling a car for me is a disaster filled with jackasses galore, so for the past 5 years the car has been on display, while I tried to forget that I owned it!

That is nothing but a horrible hack job and nothing like the Beck 550 that the Wizard built for him.
