Around three years ago I was sitting on a couch in Florida watching Youtube vids and watched a bunch of Hoovie, Samcrac, Doug, Tavarish, etc. and found some of it amusing. Hoovie has done well for himself. I don't take any of it seriously. It did plant the seed that I was missing have a fun car to work on. I ended up choosing the 996 because of the parts availability, support, and not having to get into serious body work. They only way I was going to get any of my hero cars from the 80's was to settle for something with a lot of work. Body work is not my thing. The mechanical stuff I'll tackle a lot of. The 996 was a nice compromise of price and what I got for the money.

No i turned him "off" a long time ago. I was assuming the reference about "having an issue the first time he did the swap" was about him blowing the motor.

Still not gonna watch but if there was an issue with their kit, for the cost if it, renagade should step up.

There lots of issues with the kit itself. Nothing to do with him blowing the motor after the fact

Looking forward to the LS swap part 2, 996 boogaloo. Hoovie's videos are always fun. I hope they get it right this time.

It seems like the Wizard who does all his work has learned a lot too since the first swap and is looking forward to doing things well. From the video, it sounded like the maker of the swap kit was not helpful at all in providing any level of technical support.

I think his problem was not with the mechanical parts of the kit that were supplied, but rather instructions for the integration of the wiring, fuel system, cooling, etc, parts that were not supplied.

I can see where he's coming from, I definitely have a few cars that I've owned that I wish I had back. One of my regrettable ones was my 95 M3, it was a somewhat rare spec that I sold after a fairly minor accident. Just didn't feel like dealing with it, my dad had died a month prior and I just wanted to move on.

I would seriously consider one of these kits. An LS is drool worthy. But thanks to Hoovie, Renegade would make me pause due to their lack of support wizard recieved.

I've considered an LS swap, in another non-996 car.
My 996 is going to get a F6I stage II build, which will out perform a a stock, or moderately modified LS.
Also the AC, power steering, power brake, and gauges will work with the F6I build.
No cutting is necessary to fit the 4.0 from F6I.
If I do an LS swap in the vehicle I'm considering, it won't require a bunch of cutting either.
But that project is several years off for sure!
Something to keep me busy after I retire.

I watch on a regular basis

Harry's Garage
Hoovie
Wizard

Doug DeMuro
Watch JR Go
Travarish - Really enjoy his McLaren rebuild
Ian Tyrrells Classic Workshop - Always interesting classic cars
Ratarossa - Currently restoring (his method of restoration is backyard mechanic) a 512BB
Samcrac

I like the relationships/crossovers that get built by all these players, Wizard started his channel from being on Hoovie, Tyrrell started his channel from restoring one of Harry's Lambos,
and Ratarossa flew over to Samcrac before the Pandemic to help him on one of his Ferrari's

Ls what? Stock ls1 from a Fbody...sure i'll give that to you.

Compared to a moderately modified ls2? sorry, but hell no. ls2 with a cam/springs will put down 450 wheel hp. with headwork, forget it.

Stage 2 raby 4.0 will make maybe 375whp.
