Like many others have pointed out, a stubby and a good feel for reaching into blind spaces will make the bitch bolt... easy.
Going in blind, but I've had to do this once or twice before
Close-up
And the trash that came out... a few coolant lines and a toasted AOS
Coolant lines capped.
Just need to reinstall now... looking for suggestions/ tips and tricks (this is the right place for that, yes?? lol)
Mines a 99. Looking pretty straightforward.

Looking good @2mAn !! Yes I have a Tip for you, on the 99 c2 you will need to bend the aluminum change-over valve relocation bracket 90* ...The 99 C2 is the only one that needs this exception, all others can go as is...Most people instinctive know to bend the bracket, but I have had quite a few people ask why it doesn't fit with the ICS in the way..
I have been meaning to add that note to the instructions, but have been so busy, but I just now updated the instructions to include that note..
So thanks for asking !!
The AOS only has two bolts that hold it on, and the UAOS only adds two more screws, all the rest is quick release clips and clamps.....
But there are about 10 different ways to go about the install depending on how much stuff you need/want to get out of the way to access. Some people need/want everything out of the way, some people need/want to take nothing out of the way, some can do the install in an hour and a half, some will take 10 hours +..lol
The main thing is to do it the way you can enjoy it..

An update for the "early" 99 models.. This "Z" elbow will be included in all post UAOS kits for the early 99 models..
It makes a much better/nicer connection to the Power Brake Booster Hose than was previously available, and a better routing ( and no leaking like the factory plastic o-ringed elbow)...We all know the 99's and especially the early 99's were a very tight fit, and this fits !!

Will this be obvious where its supposed to go? I've been trying to make sure I'm 100% prepared when I have my window of wrenching time. Sorry for the random questions.. but there might be more until I get this done. So far its been relatively easy and that makes me nervous LOL
Yes, it will be obvious. The flexible power brake hose with the plastic elbow that has two internal o-rings that are notorious for leaking, will have a hard time reaching across the CNC Black Aluminum Anodized Accumulator. This extended rubber/aluminum "Z" elbow will fit nicely and be leak-proof...

This is the best picture that has been posted showing how the coolant by-pass caps are installed for the UAOS kit....
A picture is worth a thousand words and this pic by @2mAn will help people that even though I put the exploded parts diagram in with the coolant by-pass kit that comes in the UAOS kit, I still get many many questions about how the caps are suppose to go..
So I think I will go through this very long thead and grab the best pictures and make some paint arrows ect, and do a "condensed thread" on how to install the UAOS since there are so many ways to go about it..
Coolant by-pass caps location

anyone have any install pictures for a 986 boxster? I skimmed through 50 pages and didnt see any boxster installs. A track kit has shown up and I am a little bit confused with the vague instructions that came with the kit.
Mainly looking for what connections go where on the AOS. There are 2 norma ports. I understand one goes to the accumulator, but what about the other? Does it use the factory plastic pipe crossing over from drivers side head?
Thanks.

Here are some pics for Boxster/Cayman UAOS installs..It's really straightforward to install..
For the 986 you will want to connect the System to the passenger side of the intake plenum (USA)
For the 987 you will want to connect the System to the drivers side of the intake plenum ( USA) ..
Remember with the Track Version you can run up to 1 qt more oil "overfull",,..that's very important..
The CNC Black Aluminum Anodized Accumulator is actually ambidextrous and either port can be used as in or out..
The "modified LifeTime AOS" can still use the same cross-over pipe from the bank 2 head to the AOS..

Thanks Skip - I'm plotting my UAOS purchase soon. I seems like the track version is the best overall choice, given the no fuss no muss oil return line? Just replace the diaphrams and let the oil change cadence sort out the rest? I don't have a lot of interest in emptying an accumulator, tbh.

I had a hard time locating the solenoid. This is how I ended up installing it tho I know it isn’t right. It fits but I have to unplug it to add oil. 2002

On an engine in good health with nominal blow-by, that is driven in a normal manor without a lot of short trips, there is no accumulation in the Accumulator in 5k miles...But I still recommend to check/drain the Accumulator at oil change intervals" just in case"....The emission legal Street Version was the first UAOS System I designed and is 4x more efficient than the stock AOS..
That said the Emission Legal Street/Track/High Mileage Version is the most popular now and is an evolution of the UAOS System..It makes it maintenance free for the street and high mileage cars ,and adds more performance to the System for cars that are also Tracked.
If you don't know the true health of your engine or the blow-by, you should test it using this thread.. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...+engine+health
After testing the blow-by/health, if you engine is healthy, here is the oil fill recommendations..
For the UAOS Street Version , fill to the" full" mark or up to .5qts "overfull" ( no need to run at 1/2 on the stick as has been recommended for the stock AOS)
For the UAOS Street/Track/ High Mileage Version you may fill to .5 to 1.0qts "overfull" ...for Track Events..

Just be glad you have a dip-stick at all, 997/987 owners would love to have that problem...lol
BTW, your engine bay looks very clean and nice !!

So it sounds like I did install it correctly then @Porschetech3 ? I can live with it especially considering all the benefits the UAOS provides.
And thanks for the compliment on the engine. It should be clean since it only has about 700 miles on it.
BTW, so far, no oil in the catch can. And I passed CA SMOG today. No questions asked!
