Just got the car back from my indy with the first visit of a number of visits that will occur over the next few months.
My 996.2 has 57k miles on it and one of the items I had my shop do was to replace the original engine mounts with Rein mounts. While it was time to replace them, as well as my transmission mounts, I only replaced the engine mounts. The reason was that I wanted to see what the difference would be in (1) shifter feel and (2) engine balance/roll.
Glad I did it this way. The shifter feel is so much tighter, not to mention the balance/roll that I was feeling under heavy acceleration and shifting on a "sweeper" which I tested on a few on-ramps, has pretty much gone away.
Someday I will replace my original shifter with a NM or CAE, but before I do it, I wanted to replace the mounts and see if it made any incremental difference of which it did.
Next one will be the transmission mount after I drive the car with the new engine mounts on the track first.
Also had the shop drop the sump pan (all clear), check the oil and oil filter (all clears), scope the bores (no bore scoring), replace the fuel injectors, and replace the differential and transmission oil. Did a bunch of other minor things such as go thru suspension and brakes to make sure everything was properly functioning. No rebuilds are needed this year, which is good news.
So everything is good. Next visit to my indy will focus on oil and water cooling for the track. This is tricky. Oil cooling solutions depend on where you can fit it and ultimately what we then have to do with water cooling. They are joined at the hip.

Glad everything checked out! The car is looking good! I am very jealous of those brakes!
Also, thanks for sharing the info about the motor mounts and shifter feel.

Thanks Man! Its always good to see what works/helps and doesn't. In this case, engine mounts not only tighten up the engine, but also tighten up shifting. Funny thing is that I never had an interest in adding a short shifter kit. There is a rhythm you develop on the track with shifting, brake and throttle that I never wanted to alter because it worked. But the shifter was getting just a bit sloppy and curious to see if the engine mounts helped at all. I suspect the transmission mounts will as well.

I didn't have nearly the ownership or seat time in my car (nor the skill or feel for the car that you have) when I made that observation about mine, but it looks like I wasn't imagining it...

Looks like you nailed it! I didn't think it would be as obvious, but it was. I could feel it in the shifter immediately. I had to find a few sweeping on ramps without cars around so I could push it thru the gears and see if I felt the "clunky roll". Didn't feel a thing.
Pretty fun testing stuff out if it works! Sure, have tested plenty that didn't. But all part of the fun nevertheless.

What products did you use in the diff and transmission? My shifting is balky when the car is cold, even in summertime. I want to change fluids to see if it helps.

My Indy likes to use Millers oil products. They used Miller's CRX75W90 for both. They also use Millers 5W40 for engines. I haven't replaced the shifter cables yet. Next step is to track the car with the new engine mounts to get a feel for changes, and then replace the transmission mounts and see what improvements. I will worry about replacing the shifter cables at a later date.
FWIW, my shop is heavy into supporting the club racing and DE community for decades, so they have tested this stuff in extreme track conditions for a long time. But as we all know, there are many ways to skin a cat and many preferences that work and work well beyond Miller's products.

I recently swapped my gear oil with Motul 300. Shifting when cold is greatly improved.
Nice YAz if you don’t mind telling us what total$ that piece cost you
Just over $2100 including shipping and import duties. Could have been a little cheaper from Gaudin or Delaware Porsche, but they said it was backordered with no availability estimate.
The weekend weather really sucked here. Took the car out today, yes supersonic. Got a six pack of agent 77 ipa from new Belgium and they were liquidating the winter ipa so I paid $3.99 for a six pack, there was a one six pack limit. I would have bought cases at that price. The only beer I really don’t like from new Belgium is fat tyre. Anyway doing homemade chicken noodle 🍜 soup today, got that pork but ready for tomorrow but wife said it’s lent, so I’ll smoke it on Thursday. Fixing to wash the car, I’ll make a trip to total wine to see if I can get a bottle of Cuban rum. Thursday in addition to the butt, I’ll make white rice and black beans with ham hocks, May get me some cohibas to complete the Cuba 🇨🇺 Day. Life is good. 7.7 alcohol by volume got to be careful with that one. On liquidation, 65 and sunny 🌞 right now so no more jacket, even thou is my favorite color blue. Pork butt now for Thursday. Conoco please keep on climbing, papa needs money for cobalt blue rocket below. What can I Say, one of one, X50.
