What did you do to your 996 today?

Hmmmm more to investigate
Changed the oil and filter. Cut filter open. A little small sparkle. No major debris or larger concerns. Will do again in 4K miles. 52k now, again at 56 and again at 60.
Reading my 996 The Essential Companion and very intrigued by my car. 2/98 Production with an X 1999 VIN number. Almost unheard of?!? Lots to read and research. May write/call into Porsche for BC and try to find the story. Title says 1999, VIN says 1999
but production date says 1998. At least a Dual
row IMS. I see headers (?) and possible aftermarket exhaust. It has an intake upgrade and all clear lenses, so it received some love in the past. I have a few more items to do. But will drive it tomorrow, as it is my current daily.
And the 355 came home with new clutch :-)

All 1998 built 996s are 1999 models.
Earlier in 1998 the better.
2/98 would be very desirable.
Want to sell it?
All 996s came with headers from the factory.

Oh and reading The Essential Companion, looks like 1997 was 14 cars. The ROW was 1998 and Cabs only in USA and then the 1999.....but they sat on the inventory? Made the cars in 1998 and rolled them out as 1999’s in USA, because they had 993’s with 1998 VINs and were building the cars on the same assembly line. The book is fascinating. Been reading a little each night and flipping back and fourth to the charts and codes.
Note: is mine the 610th one made or 20,610th one, as they made 28,067 of all body styles and drive types?

Upgraded my Becker CR-220 with OEM Bluetooth
Becker America in Saddlebrook NJ did a great job in installing Bluetooth in my existing unit. Shipped it to them and within 2 weeks had it back and now I can listen to Spotify and other streaming audio and video simply by using the Aux mode. No cables or wires, just great quality audio. Costs $125, which I think was a pretty fair price for the work.

Finally, a cup holder that works
Had horrible experiences with the OEM vent-mounted product and saw plenty of other designs that were either expensive, interfered with dash functions, or both. Finally found this one, and was blown away but not only the functionality but also the quality. Price is $25. https://www.ultimatecupholders.com/

Hit a deer!
You may have heard we are expecting a major snowstorm in NC starting tomorrow. So, I decided to take the Porsche out for a drive, since I likely won’t be using it for at least a week. Bad mistake. Just as I created a hill, 3 deer decided to run across the road. Two missed me, but the third ran directly into the passenger side front fender, then spun around and tagged the door. Fortunately, the damage isn’t too bad, but I think some paint will be required, and I’m worried it won’t match closely. Now I’m looking the recommendations for body shops in the area.
Note the fur stuck in the door handle.
