Replaced some burned out bulbs in the 3rd brake lights (regular and spoiler). I had replaced one fixture when I bought the car 11 years ago because it was cracked. I held onto it and 11 years later I salvaged some of the bulbs. Sometimes things work out.

Default Paddle Shift mod

Ended up looking pretty much the same, but when I went to test with one of my meters for continuity, whether the switch closed was dependent upon how tight the screw was turned and if I grabbed the top of the paddle, it didn't always make contact. Back to the drawing board...
I found that the paddles didn't have enough travel when I tightened the screw to hold it in place. I saw that others have filed off the metal on the back of the paddle (the pieces that protrude when the paddle is engaged). I tried gluing a small piece of plastic between those metal ends and it seems to work fine with nice solid feel. It creates a space for the paddles to travel without hitting the back of the wheel. Very happy with the mod!

I’m 5’8” with short legs...I like to sit leaned back quite a bit and the wheel extended out almost as far as possible. I find my right knee is hard again the console at all times. Strongly considering this mod even though it’ll mean the end of my Rennline phone mount.

So, if you have your hands higher up on the wheel and just grab the top of the lever, it's shifting ok, ie switch makes contact. I have one I ground down the metal you mentioned, the other not. Maybe some more material removal might help with paddle travel. I'll work on it some more, maybe this evening.

Is that a Function First shift **** on a short shift kit? Thinking of doing the same.

Speaking for myself, it's really only a knee room problem on the track. I push my knee into the center console so hard keeping myself in place that over a full track weekend I'll end up with a sore and severely bruised right knee. I'm about to purchase racing seats and harnesses plus I made this mod to try and alleviate this problem once and for all.

That is a FF shift **** from Suncoast with a standard 996 shifter. I'm about to install a 997.2 GT3 shifter and Numeric cables next weekend.

First drive in weeks, perfect day to take a drive along the Deleware river. 73 and sunny, feels like we haven't had much sun here lately.

Had a little fun on the ride home along I-95. Black 991 Turbo S with a roof rack pulled along side and gave a big thumbs up. Then plenty of open road. My first time over 7k RPM.

Replaced the heater core. Was quite a straightforward job. Make sure to get the correct butyl adhesive tape for the foam cover.

I am going to replace my coil packs and spark plugs in the next 2 weeks on my also01 996, the car has 45500 miles on it, should I also be replacing the tubes? Thank you.

Yes, they're not expensive. Make sure to get the o-rings as well. Some places sell them separately, some include them.

My lower AOS flex pipe finally came in so I can finish the UAOS install. The new OEM one is actually flexible. The old one was super brittle and snapped in half but I guess constant heat cycles will do that to plastic pipes over 16 years!
