Installed cylinder head heat shields that were missing when I bought the car. Guess original ones thrown out when the bigger coil packs were installed.

Had to make a 26 miles round trip run for VVT Solenoids for a client’s vehicle.
Had my choice of vehicles to take.
Decided to shuffle cars around and take my 996.
That 26 miles trip through the backroads took two hours.

I’m starting to rethink my dislike for lobster forks.
Those look great!
I also like the new color.
That‘s the second car I’ve liked lobster forks on.

Wow, you Texan's know how to rip. Averaged 13 mph and you must have hit 20 on the straights

A couple of work related calls delayed the bumper install till later today. Got it put back on and went for a couple of loops around 93 and 293. Got the flat spots off the tires. One exhaust tip sticks out further than the other but I'll see about that later. The Fisters are really comfortable. Not much different cruising, but when you get on it, the sound appears. I'm satisfied. I think it's a nice compromise. No problems with engine lights other than MPH exceeded, whatever that means. Time to move on to other diagnostics, (not today), oil sample, pull the sump and scope, change to Driven oil, and take some of those vacuum/pressure readings.

Another vote for red and gold rims. They probably won't look good on my silver cab, but look good with the red.

Hooked it up to a smoke machine to check for vacuum leaks. No sign of any leaks so back to the drawing board to figure out why I'm failing smog because of high NOx.

Another issue is that although the coolant shows it's up to temp "180" ish the oil lags behind it. When the oil does not get to full operating temp and stay there for 10-15 minutes then all the moisture that is in the engine does not get burned off. Worse is that when the engine is shut down before it reaches full oil temp the moisture in the engine turns to water and clings to parts. I've taken oil caps off after a short run and it was covered in water droplets, the dip sticks that are steel would have rust on them. This is in aircraft engines but I would think some of this is happening to our engines, regardless of who builds it. Just my 2 cents.

Haha!
Something is wrong with my odometer, it shows a lot more than the expected 26 extra miles.

On another note, how do you like your Feal Coilovers? I'm thinking about them, they now sell a 441+, with a different spring.

They've sold the 441+ for years. It's not a new thing. Essentially, the 441 used to come with name brand Swift springs and now it comes with generic springs. What they sell as the 441+ comes with the Swift springs and they charge a little bit more for it. I have the Feals with the generic springs, and I'm very happy with them. The damper adjustability works really well and you can dial it in. The key is don't put them on full soft and expect good ride quality. You have to have them above 20 out of 30 clicks (hard) to get them to start getting the damping matched to the springs. If you go full soft it will ride very harshly and feel like it doesn't handle well. I'd go as far as to say they transformed the car's handling.
