Took my car in for service since I have a repeat code (probably due to the Fabspeed exhaust) and a coolant leak.
They also said the key was sticking a bit. I've only owned the car for a couple weeks and have not noticed it. I declined that work for now to look into it a bit more. They say the cylinder is bad, but I've done some research on here and see a common replacement is the switch itself? Watched some DIY videos as well.. When I look up parts it's either the black switch that the harness goes into or the entire metal assembly. Thoughts on how you'd tackle?
Here is my estimate:
Good idea on declining the work...seems a bit extreme to me.
Also, they should give you a time/labor estimate, right? Why are they lumping it into one charge?

Probably worth doing the O2 sensor and hose but cost seems high for each. Ask for the breakdown of parts/labor and get alternate bids from other shops to see how they match up.
O2 sensor is simple.
Buy a 22mm wrench at Home Depot for $7. https://www.homedepot.com/p/202916173
That’s all you need.
I have special O2 sockets, but I just use an open end wrench on 996s.

Installed these aftermarket headlights a few weeks ago and then added an HID low beam kit. For some reason, now the high beams won't come on, so I'm sleuthing that down. Really happy with the look of it and the projectors work great, but in need of minor adjustment. Big improvement in lighting.
You have to do special wiring to get DRL to work on older cars...
Pretty pleased.
Easy to install, pretty much plz and play, HID kit was more effort.
Seals they provided are awful so I'm getting my own aftermarket sourced seals. Really happy otherwise.
Can you provide a link to where you got them from?
For my first project with my recently-acquired
99, I decided for an easy win and replaced the speakers (base system). It was an easy win thanks to Rod at CAI who supplied the speakers mounted in adaptor rings and necessary hardware (even the drill bit!). I also picked up some wiring adapters from Crutchfield. The job went without a hitch which is rare for me because I am frankly useless with tools. The stock speakers were beyond shot...amazing they made any sound at all.

do you mind me asking what speakers and connector part numbers/ description you used?

Thanks for the replies! I did decline the work on the ignition. I may see if it gives me any trouble and try to tackle. I just picked the car up a couple weeks ago and had it shipped to me. Also wanted to get it looked over in more detail at the dealer to start getting a relationship there. There is a good Indy near me so just wanted to get this out of the way first. I think my Fabspeed exhaust is causing the issues though. Fabspeed headers, OEM cats and Fabspeed catback exhaust.

Here is my estimate:
Sometimes the stiff switch is just the electrical component. Heads up, easy DIY. That will be $500 or one frosty adult beverage please, thank you.
This is the DIY video I found from a member on here. Is this what it looks like they are referring to? I'll ask too once I pick the car up later this week.
