Just checked Auto Atlanta. The base 996 part number is R99650412901. It is called “Cover Rear”. The 99650452902 part is called “Air Duct” in the 2003-05 GT3 and the 2001-05 Turbo/GT2. The parts look the same in the diagram.
Yes, I had/have Michelin Pilot Sport 4S(225/40R18 & 285/35R18) on my Carrera II wheels in my signature.
They have almost 20K miles on them and the rears need replacing.
The fronts are probably good for a few more K.
Prior to these, I had a couple of sets of Pilot Super Sport tires on my BMW 135i and really liked them.
The PS4S wear a little better than the PSS did.
These wheels are 18x8.5" & 18x11" so I could go a little larger in back, but Michelin doesn't make a 295/35R18.
Currently I have 235/40R18 & 285/35R18.
Thanks!!!
I hope you enjoyed your vacation.
Yes, but digging out of the hole at work is my next challenge! Made it to the track this weekend, unfortunately found my front rotors had cracking from the cross drilled holes. Made it three sessions then the vibration was too much. Put in an order for slotted rotors and hope to be back on the track soon!

The 996 504 129 01 is the undertray for all NA cars and the Tiptronic Turbo.
The manual gearbox Turbos & GT2's get a different undertray with NACA ducts to blow air on the G50 gearbox (996 504 129 03).
I can't remember the 996 504 529 02 "Air Duct" on my Turbo although I had it apart last year and it should have been there.

Pelican has pics of them and they look fairly different.
A 997 stock shifter will feel like a bowl of soup compared to the Shnell shifter. I don't think you'll like it.
I really do enjoy the feel of the Schnell, but popping out of the linkage on a relatively normal shift is irritating and I don't really want to deal with that again.
There's another short throw kit on Suncoast for ~$450 but haven't really seen much about it other than the handful of reviews on SC's page. I wonder if I can give the 997 a quick test and if it's not up to par send it back and order the other kit.

Knock on wood, but have been pleased with the Schnell. Have never had it pop out of gear, (yet).
I'm less than an hour south of Thompson, and need to get up there to check out your setup.
Cool, I live 15 min away just over the MA boarder... I'll be at the track again on the 1st - happy to meet up any weekend though. Some fun roads in the area.

It shouldn’t pop out unless something is wrong. I have a short shifter in mine. I tried a 997 shifter briefly, because I remember liking the shifting experience in my 997.2. I really disliked the stock 997 shifter compared to the 996 shifter with B&M short shift kit installed. I think if you never had a short shifter installed, it will feel fine, but if you did have one it’s hard to go back to stock.
