Did the water pump and thermostat today after work. Was a fairly big job for me because I'm still relatively amateur in terms of mechanical skills.
Yesterday installed my Fister mufflers and Rennline motor mounts. Only got out for a short drive tonight while burping the cooling system, but I look forward to really feeling out the differences here.
I also received my Tarett front camber plates, and should be getting my H&R coilovers on Thursday. Happy with how my project is shaping up!
Nicely done! Please share pictures if you are able, especially of the suspension bits 😊
What did you have to resort to in order to clean the barrels?
I had a couple inches of this product left over from I don’t know how many years ago:
It did a pretty good job of loosening the heavy stuff with a bristle brush. I used Goof Off and elbow grease to get to where they are now. My brother recommended a P21S product, but by the time I received that recommendation I was pretty much done.
Yesterday installed LN Deep sump... quite a self induced adventure due to an inadvertent doubling up of the spin on filter O Ring... long and short, don't be like me, pay attention to the small stuff even on routine maintenance you've done many, many times. But, parts look really good.
Today, after I finished cleaning up from my disaster yesterday and while I wait for another case of oil, I swapped my Sparco Evo from the drivers to passenger side and installed a Recaro SPG in the driver.
If you have messed around with seat/harness install you probably know how huge of a pain in the *** it is. I can tell you, if you want to minimize the pain, get BK auto stuff, It is so much better that the other stuff I've used. Fit was VERY close to perfect. The drivers side has the floor mounts with the harness bar and it is awesome, Very low mounting position, I can see my whole tach again ! I used the mounts that attach to the stock sliders for the passenger and they worked very well also.
Happy it's over, I'm not messing with seats for a long time. This should get the cars weight under 3K LBS. I have a PC680 and Rennline mount sitting around I will install before the long weekend is over and hopefully be around 2950 LBS...
Drove my '99 from Northern Virginia to San Antonio Texas. Stopped midway for the night in Nashville, woke up and decided I wanted new tires after hitting heavy rain on the first leg. Dealer had a set of PS2's (N2) in stock, so I pulled the trigger (295/30 19 & 235/35 19)...fit perfectly on a NB. Confidence is a new set of tires...what a difference!
01 c4 cab began randomly blowing its own horn - annoying to embarrassing. Yesterday my neighbor came over to see what was the problem - the car was just sitting in the driveway with the horn going on and off. I figured it was the notorious horn / airbag plate bushings, but to my surprise they are in excellent condition. The horn ground wire was very loose, I figure that was the culprit. I squeezed the female connector with a needle-nose pliar to get a tighter fit, added some prophylactic 0-rings to the 4 studs, and all fixed - fingers crossed!
Next I gotta find the source of a creaking noise in the dash. It's not the suspension, I can make the sound just by pulling up or down on the steering wheel, the noise is definitely inside the passenger cabin. Only 40,000 miles on the car, it's been garage-kept and babied. The dash was removed to replace heater plenum foam and an after-market stereo has been installed, otherwise bone stock.

Just make sure you don't get this or any tire dressing on your rotors.

What happens if you get it on the tires or rotors? I've seen stuff like Iron X make brown spots on tires but that can be avoided by pretreating the tires with APC and rinsing wheels and tires thoroughly. The only brakes I've ever heard/seen issues with regarding chemicals are carbon ceramics.
The Rennline Battery mount with kill switch and an Odyssey PC680. I have run these batteries before and they have always been great as long as I treat them well. Kill switch only for battery disconnect when the car is sitting.
I'd have to say at least a 30 LBS savings over stock, not sure of too many ways to drop that kind of weight for such short money. Install was very easy and the parts are very well made.
Thumbs up to Rennline.
Now on to detail my Dad's car, late fathers day present.
Swapped out my trunk lid emblem. Took entirely too long beause of how gross the old adhesive was. I think the silver looks way better on the lapis blue paint.

I did the same on my Lapis P-car. Yes, the silver looks much better!
