I bought Porsche touch up paint today ($24.74) so that my paint correction guy can fill some rock chips, restore my paint, put a ceramic coating on the whole car (plus wheels), and clean and oil the leather interior ($1650).

Can’t wait! Starts tomorrow morning; 4 days duration.

Love to hear about these cars getting the love they deserve. I was happy to get the Fr clip painted on my 99 and expel wrapped. A complete transformation🤘

Just for future reference, I didn't want to spend the money for official Porsche touch-up paint for an appliance car like the Cayenne so I bought from http://AutomotiveTouchUp.com for about $15.00.

I got a little over zealous removing a clear bra that had been left on waaay too long by the PO and needed to cover up a couple of spots where I managed to remove the clear and color coats down to the primer. I was pleasantly surprised with the color match. There was a half dollar size spot between the headlight and side marker that is very hard to see unless you look very closely.

Kudos for Automotive Touchup Stuff, had a bicyclist run into my side and scraped the front fender, bought primer , base coat "Seal Grey" and clear from them in Spray cans. plastic cover the whole car except damage area and sanded down the damage, prepped it all and painted and clear coat it, wet sanded and polished it, looks great even order more of everything for future use.

After waffling back and forth for months on buying a $260 GT3 cup front lip to replace the broken aerokit one for my 996 Aerokit front bumper, I decided to buy one.
I checked the price at Suncoast...and they’re sold out.
The cheapest I could find in stock was over $500.
But, I found out that FVD has one for under $200.
It is on its way and should be delivered tomorrow.
I’m excited!

The complete brake job that I have been planning for weeks was finally done yesterday -- Brembo rotors, Akebono pads, Stop-tech S/S brake lines, no-name brake pad sensors and, of course, all new brake fluid.

No doubt the brake job was needed because the rotors were severely worn, the pads were nearly down to zero and the rubber brake lines felt brittle. Sorry didn't take pics of them. The only problem is that the "soft brake pedal" that got me thinking about doing the brake job is still there.

So, looks like the only other thing that may be the cause (and hopefully fix for) the soft pedal is replacing the master brake cylinder w/a new one which I've already scheduled.

Took one wheel off just to look at the work done and, of course, noticed that the caliper bodies are looking a little shabby.

Would love to have a set of red calipers but don't have the desire/skill to remove and paint the calipers myself. So, I'll keep a look out for a used set of caliper bodies that I can have painted or power coated and swapped in by my Indy after adding new decals to finish them off.

------------------------------------------------

Just a couple of technical points that my Indy wrote about extensively in the work order to cover his a$$ that I wanted other people's opinions about:

1) The front brake pads were installed w/o using the existing backing plates because they would not fit the pads. He reinstalled the anti-vibration parts on the front pads because he said it was necessary to properly install them. The Indy said that the front brake pads could move around when brake pressure is applied w/o the backing plates on them. What are the risks/problems (if any) of not having the backing plates installed w/the front brakes?

2) The Stop Tech s/s brake lines I purchased do not have what the Indy called (locating or locking tabs) as is w/the case w/OE or OEM the Indy says he normally uses. Should I be worried about the brake lines loosening over time because they do not have these tabs?

3) I told the Indy NOT to reinstall the anti-vibration and squeal weights on the rear pads. Any risk (other than brake squeal) from not reinstalling these things w/the rear pads?

Any other advise/info on these matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You're missing one of the set screws on the rotor. Not that it really matters because the wheel bolts hold everything together. Just don't know why that little detail is missing though.
As for the other stuff, I think you will be okay. If the brakes start squealing, you can easily correct it...later.

Your soft brake pedal may be corrected by proper bleeding of the system, so I'd try that before spending money on a new master cylinder.
