What did you do to your 996 today?

#1 - I wonder what the anti-wear package is in that stuff...?
#2 - What does Bob The Oil Guy say about it...?

Installed the ROW M030 kit over the past week. When I purchased my 996 the PO had purchased the kit but never installed it. The kit only came with rear bump stops so I also replaced the front bump stops and the f/r bellows. Replaced the drop links (OEM) as well since i had the old ones off to replace the sway bars. The strut perches were in good shape so i reused those. Car has 54k miles.
I didn't take real accurate measurements, just tape measured to the top of the wheel arches, but looks like the front is about 3/8 inch lower and the rear 1/8 lower. Not a real noticeable rougher ride but much less body roll, my wife thought it rode better than stock. So that's always a plus!
Then took a drive on the local twisties and smiled!

Took my mom out on a birthday drive and ended up on a flat bed about two miles into it. It appears the alternator somehow came loose/fell off, shredding the (new) serpentine belt in the process. All I know is when I popped the engine cover the alternator was hanging down and totally loose. Waiting to hear from the shop how much damage to the wallet it's going to do.....

- Oil and filter change
- Mailed off my UOA
- R&R a control arm link(old one was loosey-goosey, but not the cause of my front end noise
- Ordered all new control arms and links(with poly urethane bushings) --I'll get that noise yet!
- Finally got my spare rear tire mounted on my spare rear wheel (Owned the tire for 2 years and the wheel for at least one)
- Got my headlights back from the body shop. The paint now matches much better. Used to be Much darker, now they look a little lighter.

Oil and filter change with Mobil One.
changed oil filter.
cleaned the reads of leaves and debris.
dyed the convertible top dark blue with RIT dye. Painted it on and looks new!
Overall check front to back. Car looks great and operates perfectly put a little over 4000 miles on since the spring.

- Cleaned out the drainage wells in the front by the battery, were not blocked at all but better to check.
- Vacuumed the interior and found the cigarette lighter under the passenger seat. Was excited because it was in the pictures on the listing for the car but when I purchased it it was mysteriously missing, dash looks complete now! If I had found the spare key under the seat too it would have been a GREAT day!

Replaced the ignition switch. After 45 minutes on my back trying to replace it and getting no closer to actually loosening the two screws, I popped over to my Indy and he knocked it out in 20 minutes. Now I can get my key in and out normally again and I don't have all the weird electrical bugs. .

The ignition switch replacement is one of those that once you get it, it’s easy. Also helps to have the right tools. I too spent more time than I wanted in an uncomfortable position with only my stubbornness to aid me. I feel the next time it will be easier.
