I am not sure how he did the install.
In 2009 I researched & reprinted what I found of Mike J's, then went with a version that didn't cut the plate or the grill.

If it helps anyone else, from the "No front plate-pulled over" thread:

More details from XavierLaFlamme (Michael)'s thread, where he was discussing his front license plate holder:

More info by clicking hyperlinks for my DIY details years ago on the "Rennlist/ PCA member's 993 SPEEDSTER" thread:
-2009's page five and page six
-March 2011's page 30, a summary for TommyG when he asked how to mod.

Good to see what MagDaddy, JPP, etc., have since done with Mike J's idea.
The following's from Mike J's "Sold the Targa" thread:

Looking to do the same. Thanks

My state requires a front plate, so I've studied Mike J's repeatedly.
Instead of cutting edges, I folded, then covered with clearbra.

Regarding air flow, no negative aspect, IMHO. IIRC, neither oil cooler nor A/C compressor are impacted in the center.
Thanks for an attractive option, Mike!

Shouldn't cause any issues - just fabricate a couple of brackets to attach to the lower grill a make sure the plate is at 90 degrees to the ground.

Just an update to this thread with the modified plate location - here a pic showing a scrap peace of flexible black plastic covering the plate that can be quickly removed revealing the plate........
This method hopefully will talk me out of ticket - Officer I just came back from a photo shoot and forgot to remove the "black out" bla bla bla ........

Thanks Jim for sharing that. Too hi-tech for me but lots of options out there - reminds me of this crazy locally made car that we ran into on a tour last year - it's a Mustang: http://www.exclusivemotorcars.ca/video.html

I really like this one. Cant believe its only 90 bucks... LOL I even found it cheaper! Down on the bottom in "specials" the truck one is only $79. I emailed them and they said its same as the car one thats $90, its just promo they are running.
