Indeed, the Speedster windscreen is not an integral part, it bolts down on to special mountings incorporated into the dash top and door posts. The fabrication of these sections is all part of the 9m conversion process.

Yesterday Neil gunned the loose panels in the silver base coat followed by the translucent orange colour base coat. This morning we applied another colour coat, once dried it was time for clear lacquer application.

On a complete car build from a bare shell where you are changing the doors, the best way to align the new doors is with the engine in and the car sat on its road wheels, so we put off buying the doors until we got to this stage. Once the engine is fitted (when the new engine wiring harness arrives) we can align the doors, fix the door hinge positions and then paint the shell. We will start with the closure areas of the doors and door apertures, then spray the whole outside in one hit to ensure perfect panel to panel paint match.

The new engine wiring loom has arrived and the engine is now back together ready to be fitted with new engine bay sound mat behind it. Sorry that I have been tied up all day with visitors and unable to take photos of the progress, hopefully you will see an update sometime tomorrow.

Do you notice any door alignment changes from the fully caged coupes once they are on their own feet?

Mind you, that said it is nothing like the caged Coupe that we are currently working on which had a full cage manufactured and welded in elsewhere. When they finished the job the doors would not close.....

MC: "We need to fit the aircon pipes with this bracket."
Rob: "What, on this pipe here?"
MC: "Yes, and the bigger one"
Rob: "Oh, OK, like this?"
MC: "Yeah, that's the one."
