Last part for now, paint the internal black areas and damask. We don't go mad with the satin black on the dash since it will be covered in leather.
The correct presentation of the factory VIN number is a pain. At every stage of the painting you have to unpick the paint from each dot with a scriber until the final clear coat is applied, then cover with a strip of clear body film. Talk about attention to detail....?

The black is pretty much how the factory do it since although overspray is minimised it is not critical on a car that will end up fully trimmed. Of course, in our car it is more obvious because we have fully painted the interior with colour and clearcoat, the factory would not have "wasted" the paint.....

Let the assembly begin.....
Marc could not resist the pile of parts on the workshop floor, so out came the cleaning rag and on they went, however as you can see from the finish on the aluminium parts, it really does speed up the job when the parts are from a genuine 8000 mile car and everything is like brand new.

I'm afraid not Graham. Unfortunately me and Marc are building this in our spare time and have to buy the parts to finish it as we go, so with no likely windfall approaching (!) we've got little choice but to take our time with the assembly.

Quit tempting me! On a serious note, how long will you be able to get the OEM speedster parts from Porsche? Are you getting them all new or stumbling on old speedster stuff?

Most items are still available new if you know where to look, however provided that things go to plan over the next year or so Speedster parts will not become a future problem for 9m Speedster builds.
