Just a little tidbit, when you get there you will understand, jack up the engine a bit.

Thanks for the heads up!

Yummy to the 10th power!

I know you scheduled 4 days to do the job, I'm telling you, they way the
suspension is designed it's a piece of cake!

First night of suspension install... 3.5 hours spent... put car on jack stands, also have rear tray and transmission tray removed...

Front shock and springs unmounted from car and disassembled... front strut mounts are in good shape... did not need spring compressor, even though I borrowed one from O'Reilleys...

Rear shocks and springs unmounted from car and disassembled... rear strut mounts are in good shape... definitely did not need spring compressor...

Right rear shock was dead and leaky... the rest of the shocks were pathetically old... totally spent...

so, tomorrow I will install coilovers...

fun project...

Awesome John!
When assembling the front PSS10s, be sure the aluminum top hat slides down onto the body when tightening down the top nut. There should be some exposed threads (1/2" to 3/4" if I remember correctly) on top of the nut when installed correctly. It's a little tricky to get it lined up.

Finished the installation... 6 more hours today... 10 total hours...

the front is too low, partly because of my aggressive camber seting... I'll have to adjust it this weekend... I have never had coilovers before but I assume I can adjust on the car, just with wheel off...

the Bilstein PSS10s are by far the best suspension system I've ever had on a car, but then again, this 993 is the best sports car I've had... I am running fronts at 4 and rears at 5... and its not harsh at all in my quick 15 miles shakedown test...

Front needs to be pulled up a tad, but wow, point and shoot performance... no clunking, no harsh crashing... of course only 2 of my 4 stock shock were semi-working... I can't imagine needing anything more for my street driving... my stock rubber suspension bushings seem to be in decent shape... definitely need an alignment... Thanks to Jakob, FD Motorsports, Darin, and many of you that helped with hints along the way, especially all your posts about suspension, brakelines, etc...

Here's some pics I just snapped for your pleasure:

John-- I've never heard a bad work about PSS10s. Enjoy!

All I own is a point & shoot camera. Works best in bright sunlight, taking a lot of shots to get 1 worth sharing.

At night? I stopped trying a long time ago -- was just wasting my time.
Maybe there's hope in my future: I recently ordered a $30 tripod (~what my camera cost), & am starting to learn fancy terms like "long exposure"
A bit off topic -so feel free to PM - but would LUV to learn how you captured these pics.

Again: Looks great!

Thank you!

The technology in my Nikon D5100 with the 35mm 1.8 Lens allows me to pull over in a supermarket parking lot snap about ten shots without a tripod for quick shot... With a tripod and setting the shot up, much better... these were taken at 6400iso but with aperture wide open at 1.8... shutter were 1/15-1/60 depending on shot... These were quick just to document that I was complete with the installation, now on to dialing in...

My hands and fingers are really tired... not a hard install, but I have a lot of tools, including air tools... but I did most things by hand, too many aluminum parts to strip... nice to have air ratchet for the mounts in the engine bay...

I should have done suspension the week I got it... shame on me driving it mushy for two months...

I need to measure to see where it is in relation to RS height... My goal is RS +10...

Good work, that thing looks amazing. I love what suspension mods do to a car.

It looks awesome John!
Yes, you can adjust the ride height in the front by just removing the wheel. You can also loosen the two bolts at the bottom of the front struts and pull out at the top of the wheel to take out some of that negative camber.
If you like it now, wait until you get a good alignment
Amazing night-shots of a black car!

Spent all Saturday at the river tubing down the South Platte with 25 other drunkards...

Sunday morning, woke up early and adjusted the front height of the car... before from fender lip to ground was 24.5" rear was 25 3/8"... now both are at 25 3/8"... and reduced some of the camber in the front wheels... that helped the ride tremendously, much less bounce, bumpsteer what ever you want to call it...

I moved the settings from F 4 / R 5 to F 4 / R 6 and headed for a thorough 150 miles shakedown...

Up to squaw pass, some pics of stance:

after the first 80 miles realized I need some more control in the front... moved the F to 5 Rear remained at 6... Brilliant balance... wow wow wow! Now we're talking!

Took these on Peak to Peak Hwy 119, sweepers galore...

This car keeps getting better and better and better...

Will monitor the stance over the next couple of weeks...

Just saw this thread...

Good timing... My right rear mount was not quite in the optimal position... Adjusted, and tightened properly
