Don't worry Frorhl, when you send your car over for a conversion you can insist that the last minutae of detail is absolutely perfect, for you.

Actually, the track just popped into my head as mark was fitting the doors, hence "I wanna be a-door-ed". Didn't think I'd have to spell it out though.
You're right about Ressurection, very apt for the project.

IMHO - Wheels, door handles, spoiler grill all in silver/grey is pretty damn cool. The idea is to personalize the ride and this absolutely will be one-off.
Also, +1 on the Tip!

Ouch!...Best stick to modifying Porsches mate......I doubt a career in stand up would be quite so lucrative or appreciated by the audience!

"If I walk out of my ranch, jump in my car and drive for 2 hours straight, I still wouldn't reach the end of my driveway."
British farmer (in best yokel accent):
"Yarp, I had a car like that once..."
You're right, I'll stick to engines.

Colin - not too many on this forum will know what a Yokel is; or Worzell Gummage for that matter...
The painted wheels aren't doing it for me at all, but it's just an opinion.

Last year LA Dismantlers were asking $14000 for a set of parts to convert a cabrio into a Speedster - that's doors with glass, screen with surround, roof complete, speedster hump. All the metalwork (not incuded) adds another $3000. And if you go widebody................even more $$$$$!
If you scour the web though, bits and pieces appear!

Colin/Graham,
Love this thread, I think the speedster is a true piece of workmanship and beauty.
On the latter part I feel there are some details one might play around with to further fine tune the overall appearance. Let me try to explain my thoughts:
I love the 993's shape for it's 'monolithic' (i.e carved from a solid piece of rock) visual appearance. The thing that at this point in time most detracts from this monolithic theme imo are the spokes, these appear very 'busy/uneasy' to the eye. -The second bit is the door handles in grey that at this moment seem to be lost without further grey visual reference.-
A couple of options to play around with would be to extend the blue paint on the wheels towards the edge between the valve and the rim circumference. This would act as a 'natural' division between the blue and silver, and imo opinion would give the blue centers of the rims a much more solid like appearance since the blue now connects the spokes to eachother.
One could take this one step further, and paint the silver sections on the wheels the same type of grey as the door handles, spoiler louvres in an effort to tie this grey theme together more evenly (I do understand where it comes from with the beautiful grey stitches on the interior).
As a more understated alternative one could have the rims covered in silver (or grey) entirely with just a subtle a cobalt blue pinstripe around the outer edge. As said more understated, but again much easier on the eyes and in tune with the 993's monolithic shape.
I'm convinced that bringing any design up to 10/10's takes some experimentation in bringing the details in tune with each other, just a fact of live. To experiment with the above suggestions would -only- take a spare rim, some paint and some elbow grease. Nothing like mentioning a grey cloth speedster top!;-)
Kudos to all the work and the ***** to commission a project like this!
Cheers,
Harald
