I love big butts. That is why 2 our 3 993's were wide bodies. The funny thing is as much as I love the wide bodies, my favorite one to drive was my narrow bodied cab. It just 'fit' me better I guess.

I think it's more than that. I love the dimensions of the standard 993 cars because to me, it's a perfect, unbroken set of smooth transitional lines and curves. It seems like a misnomer to call them 'narrow' when compared to the 964 or any other previous 911 bodies, even the 964 turbo.
I have a friend that is a car designer. He started at Studebaker back in the '50's, then Chrysler, GM and now Nissan. He told me that in the auto design 'Community', the standard 993 body is considered the 'Holy Grail' of design accomplishment, the "ultimate transition to a final product for the 911 body", and he's not the type to gush. Don't get me wrong, I think WB cars are beautiful. IMHO one of the most beautiful WB cars I've seen is Mark Porsche's Speedster where the factory blended in the rear fender and rocker like a standard Carrera without the 'ledge' sticking out between the two:

It really makes the 'S' front spoiler stick out like it doesn't belong. I actually think a standard front bumper would have worked perfectly here, just letting the extra width in the rear draw the discerning eye. Maybe he'll sell it to me so I can fix that ..

Jon Paul-- As usual, your insights really connect with me:
When designing Speedy's WB conversion, a difficult stylistic decision was whether to blend NB-style rocker panels into the WB rear quarters. I went with OEM WB rockers, but don't feel it's technically as 'pure' of a flowing, seamless look.
Will your 993 Speedster take this artistic leap to arguable perfection?

Alf-- My bride chuckled when she read your post, then said what Jo wrote ... before she wrote it!

P.S. Hope you got my e-mail last week, with a request regarding your request, & answering your question about an east-coast lass (NB).
