Maybe typical for those with new 993s here, I used to be overly concerned with other's opinions. For example, when talking to Mr. Seinfeld last year, it was incredibly affirming when, after looking at Speedy's 996T twists, he gushed, "Those are the same wheels I have on my car!" referring to his 993 Speedster. (Last I had seen previously was in '04, when he had 993T twists).
That's just about reason enough for ANYONE to keep whatever wheels they have.
...These brand new, OEM 911 Sport Classic 'Fuchs', then? Absolute no-brainer, with no regrets. If I had an engineering company, I would have made them years ago.
Apparently the dealer had the same vision -- that they belonged on Speedy. They went far out of their way to request them in advance, what may be the first set installed on a customer's car in the country.
Later, they even asked me to bring her back so they could showcase Speedy at a Porsche Club event they hosted.
The highlight for me was when a friend who designed much of the 1989 Speedster's aesthetics for Porsche sought me out during the dealer's festivities. (The factory acknowledged his contributions by awarding him the first 911 Speedster in the USA, engraved & signed by Porsche himself.) With similar enthusiasm as Jerry's, his eyes lit up when he saw me & said the wheels were 100% perfect for Speedy.
He gets it.
Even if he didn't, though, I'd still be thrilled. Modernized 'Fuchs' are the perfect historical salute for Speedy ... perfect for me!

i had hollow spoke 996tt wheels on my c4s and loved the look. i gotta say the new wheels you put on your car look absolutely amazing. i didn't think your car could look any better and then you go and do this..........WOW.
Wow Jager! Beautiful. I keep asking PA if I can get out on the ramp for pics with my car and they tell me to come out during the semi-annual open house. Me and 100k of my close friends.
I still have that beer here if you pass through SLC.
I'm glad to hear the school isn't keeping you completely in. I took two classes each of the last two terms and feel like that time was just subtracted from my life. Only one class at a time from here out.
Hoggel-- I feel your (academic) pain, bro.
I'm a sucker for a free drink; gotta figure how to get to SLC
Would be great to catch up with you & your dual-Porsche fam again!

Hope to have the same luv-fest back in Cali in Aug again this year. BTW, gotsta give props to my girl Jo for getting me introduced to Jerry, as referenced in my above post. You & Robert are some of the friends I was thinking of when writing about an excuse to get back to see friends at Monterey's car week in Aug.
Simply getting to see Robert's painstakingly reborn '87 911 qualifies as great excuse. Congratulations on bringing such a beuatiful creation into the world!
However, since going public with potential car show plans, I've had some bad news regarding work that may prevent my attendance. However, that just means I'm making more of an effort for the June 12 Dana Point, CA Concours that Speedy's been invited to.
If you get Robert, Alf, DC Dude, etc. back there, I'll try to get Speedy to the party.
