So glad I found this thread, you picked an AMAZING color, kudos to you for bucking the trend of thinking it is heretical to do a color change! Looks great on your 993, can't wait to see it complete!
I might be a little biased as I have a 1974 911 in HellGrun/Jade Green that is 100% original paint. The car stops traffic or draws a crowd wherever it goes. This color was offered from 1972-1975 (the 1992 listed on Rennbow is an error) but very seldom seen.
Original brochure image from 1974. This IS the actual original paint can from the Porsche factory when they painted my car. On rare colors excess paint was tucked into the car to be used by the owner as touch up paint. I opened my can a few years ago and actually used a small amount to a couple rock chips. Color Code 227 HellGrun or Jade Green in the US. 9 means it was painted at the factory and 1 means they used Lesonal paint. More vibrant that Mint Green, which many people think it is. In the shade, loaded in my trailer ready to go to an event.
The car is on jack stands in the garage. I've gotten most of the frunk back together (did a complete R&R on the HVAC suitcase). Next up is getting everything squared away under both fenders (oil cooler, AC condenser, lines, etc), then fuel lines and on to the engine bay.
I've gotten slightly distracted with some suspension R&R as well. I'm avoiding taking any short cuts and rushing to slap it back together. I do need to dump some photos in here.
Long overdue photo dump of some progress items over the last few months. Will make a few posts with some random photos. Most pulled from my Instagram story updates (many of those are video clips, will post photos only).
First up, glass went back in after I finished up the alcantara headliner and A, B & C pillars...
Next up I polished up the paint on the door frames. I got new belt moldings that go along the top of the doors and also the ones under the rear quarter glass. The paint on the door frames around the window glass was pretty faded in comparison to the new black parts.
Used some polishing compound and elbow grease to revive them. Also did some wet sanding to remove a few scratches prior to compound and buff.
Also, replaced the grill that goes underneath. Since I removed the rear blower and running an RSR/Cup style bypass, I wasn't happy with the hole which is visibly left behind when you look through the grill. The first year cars had a slightly different blower without a hole in the grill.
A little bonus trivia, both of these versions have the same exact part number. So the only way to find one is an eagle eye and looking in the used part market.
I know all about that grille under the deck lid - my 6/94 build does not have the blower intake, yet Porsche saw fit to install the new version of the grille. This bothered me every time I had the lid open. Thankfully I was able to source the correct grille and retrofit.
All new windshield washers and hoses as the old stuff was junk.
At some point someone cut them, including the wiring to the old washer nozzles, presumably during body/paint work by someone who didn't know how to free them from the harness. Not only did they cut the wires, they cut them directly against the body of the washer nozzles so you couldn't even repair the wires by crimping or soldering on new ones. *facepalm*
Anyway, new stuff looking nice... (car getting dusty and waiting for it's first bath)
