Only Carrera S cars with black gauges have the script. There is no Carrera 4S gauge script.

the market does not turn that quickly, unless some major catastrophic issue....

this car has terrible mods and is a mile from original....

i think that the last few auction results prove that NBs are now the more valuable of the two. lol.

I don't blame the bidders on that car... most of the WB cars that have been selling were all unmolested and sorted examples. No one is going to pay $150k for a WB that has a difficult to reverse interior, an overdone audio system, and other issues. The only way these cars should sell is either well maintained and stock, or with universally known "GOOD" mods... AKA, not upholstering an interior randomly with silver-colored leather

The interior is unfortunate. The lesson here is to always keep the original parts you replace in storage. The original owners tossed the old seat inserts and leather pieces - and threw away a good chunk of resale value away with it.

I think the killer was the previous supercharger install. I'd bet that scared off potential bidders who are afraid of the unforeseen consequences of FI on the motor.

That NB was a total anomaly - complete fluke and the high bidder got the red mist or something. I don't think the market is cooling. 2 years ago, I bought my all original , no stories C4S at 38k miles for $89k which was the high end of the market at the time. This car is a much worse example and still pulled a $94k bid (with fees). All this shows is that the market has limits. Not EVERY car is going to pull $130k+ valuation.

That car needed thousands in interior work to return it to non-terrible condition. Even the gauges needed to be re-done. Red gauges, seatbelts, and shift boot on a two-tone blue and grey interior? Uh, no. That plus the supercharger backstory and all the wired-in radar detector and stereo stuff made this car part project, part mystery.

People don't want to pay a fair market price and then have project items to address.

Unless you are a DIY person, work on these cars can get expensive

There’s another way of looking at this sale. We’re used to discussing the $120k to $140k prices these cars have been bringing. Given all the negatives you guys have described, one could say that around $90k represents the current bottom of the market for these cars. This is still a good price (in my view) given I paid half this amount in 2005 for a 50k mile C4S. Knowing a range is also valuable information.

From what I remember, you may have overpaid in 2005

this was my initial takeaway also. with everything that was incorrect with this car, it still 'brought' $90k.

i'm fine with that.
