I think this one will be more representative of the current market. Not low mileage but a mid mileage driver’s car.

Too bad it didn’t sell. Would have likely been a great car and certainly would get a lot of looks at any gathering. I like the mods. Let the purist have their all original cars, there are many that would just love this the way he has it. I had a 17 C2S I wrapped in Dragon Fire Red and it was amazing. Got told it would never sell. Sold in four days. But then I didn’t try to sell at auction. Put it on dealer floor. Maybe he would do better to try and sell elsewhere.

Complete and utter off topic side bar (but I needed to put this somewhere):

Bought a Phoenix Yellow '01 S54 Z3 M Roadster on Friday, private party. If you are looking for a value opportunity in this crazy market, I highly recommend them.

Drove the snot out of it all weekend (much like a 993, this thing likes high revs), came away thinking it could be the best, under appreciated, and under valued car out there.

Amazing.

Congrats!

Love those cars - I thought their value had gone up quite a bit for the s54, I wonder if the market cooled with the whole subframe thing.

It’s on my short list of cars I’d like to own.

I decided to jump on this wagon a few weeks ago. Hopefully my 993 Turbo goes live in the next week or so on BAT. 42k miles, Guards red with sport buckets. Should be $300k after looking at this 104k mile 2S today! hahahah.

Clearly this is a bubble, but the market will probably eventually reset to a higher baseline than it was before the boom. Either way, I predict values will be higher than they were 2 years ago. I don’t think we’re going to see widebody cars with <40k miles selling for <$90k again. There are a finite number of cars that are only getting older and accumulating more miles.

I’m curious whatever happened to the muscle car market? The 993 is one of my generation’s version of the muscle car (Gen-X) - ie the teenager dream car. That may be a good reference to where the 993 market will end up - though classic 911s have a longer more established market, so maybe it’s not totally analogous.

recently sold my estoril/full black S52 M coupe and agree that they are an under appreciated car, in general. the coupes have a cult following and rightly so. 2 seater with rather good practicality - think small shooting brake like an 1800ES. i really liked how it had an old sports car feel - doors are cut low, you can practically put your arm out and touch the rear tire. the low door height really gives you the sense of being very close to the ground and a more open cockpit.

having had an e46 M3, i often considered moving to an S54 coupe, but the margin is rather wide for the small performance advantage. the S54 certainly revs much freer. the S54 coupe are bringing significant money in some cases, but the roadsters are a bargain in comparison.

As long as they keep printing money, it will continue. Lots of (devalued) money+a very few desireable vehicles=inflated prices
