If you analyse the market for WB 993, like I did 6 months ago, you'll realize, that 1 mile is at least $ 1, increasing up to 10 $ per mile when you get to 10K miles or less, up to 30 $ per mile when you get under 3K miles.
The only exception is for the 993s with tiptronic.

That's a fact in terms of simple statistics.

Other influnces are color and modification that are less appreciated.

i think it's also the 'pause' it will give some bidders. you'll just have to consider that those bidders might not be there in the end. people will also have to trust the description in the comments as being complete and accurate. being branded with any accident damage will impact value, but it's the owner at the time who will take the hit. from that point forward the value will be reflected based on it being there - however small a margin that might be.

Interesting. I wonder what the average or median mile of all widebody 993 cars is these days. Obviously it's impossible to tell.

I know that you’re right. But for me, a Carfax accident report simply tells me where to spend more time inspecting. What was the extent of the damage and how were the repairs done? I put zero importance personally on the bumper skin being replaced on a Porsche.

I can’t help but wonder how these 50 percenters ever buy a Porsche made before 1981and the advent of Carfax. Do they assume that no Porsche made before 1981 was ever involved in an accident since it’s not indicated on a nonexistent Carfax report? Or would they not own a 356 Speedster, or an early 70’s Carrera RS, or a 79 930 Turbo because there’s no Carfax? I treat pre-Carfax and post-Carfax cars the same way as far as evaluating the quality of the car.

Carfax is often bogus junk, as been written about on this forum and in/on many other places. As a PCA Tech Tactics video talk revealed last year, reporting to Carfax is optional, at the sole discretion of the repair shop(s) involved.
As I've shared several times, stellar my '94 Corvette ZR1 was smashed big time in the front by a jerk who ran a red light 10-years ago. He immediately admitted fault, his State Farm paying all the repair costs, which were enormous. It took almost a year, with a very reputable "Corvette Specialty" shop in Portland to get it finished. The car should have been totaled, based on total costs. A Sheriff was on scene in Portland, OR as we were blocking a major intersection. A police report was filed. My USAA notified and remain involved,, but paid nothing.
Net Result on Carfax- ZERO, not a hint. Clean!.
This reality is blown over or not known by many, sellers and buyers, and yet a "Clean Carfax" is akin to the vehicle's being blessed.by Higher Authority.
Recall, in 1995 fuel prices in the U.S. averaged $1.30. That amount equals $2.50 in 2023 dollars. Yet, now we're often paying twice this amount, or more, and this has become part of the silent New Normal. Outrageous.
Caveat Emptor.
Fred

Just watched Ben Collins' newest video about this wonderful P-car collection out of Switzerland and Italy that's being auctioned off.

Up for auction is this pre-production 993 Turbo S, the first one ever built. Specced out to the gills.

https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/c...e-911-turbo-s/

Despite the high mileage, it should fetch a grand price.

Seems low for the Vesuvio car - repaint and funky rims must have kept the price down.

Don't forget 108 K miles. That considered, I think the seller got a great price.

High miles, repaint and top end rebuild.....perhaps these cars have reached an age where color, options, conditions are on par with low mile examples.

Perhaps, however, the white 993 4s with 33 K miles was much less than expected and the Vesuvio 993 s was much more than expected. My Porsche mechanic offered a clients Vesuvio to me five or six years ago.
I kept my 993 4s at 37 K miles, arctic silver on black non sun roof.
