That was a quarter of the Porsche section...and there were about 4 or 5 rooms with the same amount of other brands.

Does that mean that I would purchase a car there and expect it to be "perfect"? No.

As for "quality" - I think 95% of their inventory is for restoration or major modification projects where you don't care about history, and the other 5% would probably flag pretty hard on a PPI. Looking at enough of their listings, the key phrase is "mechanically sound" - which to me means "you can maybe drive it out of here, but you better have AAA on speed dial to get all the way home."

.
Cool, I may pop in there when in the area. Sounds like a sight to see.

Restoration/mod donor makes sense, still dependent on quality and price.

Okay, so crazy - that reference car I mentioned a few posts back? It's the C4S that is up for sale on Pcarmarket...I knew it looked familiar! Someone added decals...

It's an accident car with paint bubbles and some needed maintenance. Hopefully someone gets a good deal. Decals not helping.

Well, the accident was more than 70,000 miles ago- and most of the work it seems to need is body stuff- I can imagine this is going to sell at the current bid- would be the single LOWEST priced C4S in the US sold in many years.

It's a Reserve auction, it's not even going to sell. An accident is an accident, at any time in a car's history. I think the notion is clear that buyers spending the dollars for these cars prefer ones that have clean histories and don't have owners that went overzealous with gaudy decals and dumb Euro plates

We'll see the "ask" when it goes to deal tank.

I have a car for sale there by the way if anyone is looking for a great BMW...only issue with the car is that the ignition is on the wrong side of the steering column BMW Z3 M Roadster

Well - it's getting HARDER and HARDER to find cars that you can drive that haven't had something happen especially with more miles. Documented, proper work is the key. I would NOT rule out an accident- especially one that long ago- if I were a buyer. BUT- a PPI is crucial

And when I say DRIVE- I mean higher mileage cars- a 25K specimen is a showpiece these days.

While the bidding on that car jumped up a decent amount at the end, I'm still not sure if that was a good sell. Maybe it is and an accident history has that much of a price impact. Or maybe the decals scared away another $10-$20k.

The reserve on that car from Pcarmarket must have been around $80-85k.

Here's another interesting comparison, a C2S that DIDN'T meet reserve on BaT at almost $130k and with 10k lower miles and no accidents: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...ra-s-coupe-25/

I'll probably put my 993 4s on BAT in a couple of months if prices stay on the current level. To me it looks like auction results are less predictable compared to a few months ago.

certainly less predictable than 6-9 months ago, but it does appear that 'good' cars are still bringing good money. the usual trend is that the ones that 'rise' with the good examples, in an aggressive market, fall off earlier and sharper, obviously. (nothing everyone here doesn't know already).

Well put in logical words.
My 993 4s is a 37 K arctic silver on full black leather ROW no sunroof example.
