This limited history is all post-financial crisis data. Also, the "troubled times" money printing effect. Arguably, prices may be down a bit. It's hard to tell because, according to Hagerty, as sale volume declines, the cheaper cars get pulled from the market sooner, leaving the pricier ones. This makes prices appear stable when they are actually declining. It's difficult to get data comparing oranges to oranges. Look at pre/during/post-recession data 2005 to 2011, 1998 to 2003, 1988 to 1994, 1978 to 1983, etc. Ball park, low mileage mint, 993 Turbo prices, which is all I remember because that's what I was shopping for, during the financial crisis cycle went from C$140K to C$90K to C$250K over a 7-year period. I know you'll remember this cycle, Mark. Nothing significant has changed to make the upcoming cycle any different.

I do Ronnie. Even the BAT data I posted is skewed in my opinion. Most of the pricier cars get posted there. Regardless, I would expect some softening next year. How much? I have no idea!
What I would like to see is prices of newer cars normalizing. Paying over MSRP for a 5 year old 911 is nuts!
Also because of the inflation all the bank account savings will lose their value fast. The official inflation rate in the EU area is about 10% but in reality it's probably closer to 20%.
There is a lot of people who have spare money in their bank accounts. And during an inflation like this, a classic Porsche is at least something that will maintain most of its value, long term.
Might be that kind of buyers who have bought those rare 964 and 993 Turbo S models on BaT with crazy prices?
Cool data Jay. Looks like the gap between 2S and 4S has narrowed in the past year by about 10k or so with the 2S still commanding a slight premium overall.
Here's an interesting one to watch that just came up on BAT. Says it's a pre-production 1995 4S (supposedly one of 5) that spent time in Germany and Japan so it's got the G64/21 tranny. Never seen a 4S that's non-varioram. Love the black/chestnut combo as well.
That interior 2 tone color combo just doesn't work for me. All black would have been so much better.
Ah no- that color combo is killer- but thereis a LOT going on inside with the carpet, leather, carbon- so I see what you mean. still DROOOOOOL! Sold for $ 549K- wow.
