still fetched $170+

Personally; would not even consider this example based on the milage concerns alone

😳
The market has been here for well over a year almost the last two years. Why are you surprised by the price?

Without all that probably would have fetched over $200k.

These cars are WAY too reliable for mileage concerns. How many 150k mile Ferrari 355s have you seen? condition condition condition.

Could not agree with you more. Took my 100k mile C4S out to the beer farm and delivered a set of wheels. Two hour round trip car ran perfect. These were built very well 👍

until ….. you need a “top end rebuild” for $20k if you can find a “reliable” shop or have to ship the car to a reputable shop for the work…..… then wait a month to get it back if your lucky….. come on! These cars are like 25 years old now… stuffs gonnna break regardless… also keeping up with maintenance is key …. Parts prices are now threw the roof IF you can get ‘em!

Just for the reasons stated, like a bad carfax and questionable mileage.

With a clean carfax & documented mileage - sure Id expect these numbers

The market is what one person is willing to pay for a car. Highly variable when you introduce human emotions into the mix and humans don't make the best decisions.

Wondering when the day will come that I need a top end rebuild.. just crossed 105k miles today. I've put about 4k miles on since Summer 2020.

Its hard to say…. Mileage is all over the board as low as 30k miles needing a top end rebuild. Watch your oil consumption a quart every 500 miles might be the first tell tale sign you have an issue.

My 78k mile C4S is in the shop now. Decided to do a complete rebuild even though there was no smoking or signs it was needed. It went in for some engine leaks including the transmission. But when we did a leak down test some of the figures were higher than I wanted to see. So I’m doing top end, new LWF and RS clutch, new starter, new hoses, new RMS, new fuel lines, new engine and tranny mounts, distributor belts, axle boots, SAI clean out, ignition wiring and anything else that should be replaced while the engine is out. I told them if any piston rings were leaking do them too. Looks like I’ll be without it another 3-4 months. So I get to drive my SC and turbo for a few months this spring. I have a feeling the power in the 993 was down and I didn’t even notice it because I’ve owned it so long (17 years).

She has earned a makeover.

Jesus! My 993 at 82K uses maybe 1/2qt every 2-3K miles if that. I'd say 1qt every 1K miles is excessive.
