Rudys Ocean Jade C2S just sold at Gooding for 185,000. With their commissions/shipping, that is $210,000.

thats the only one so far that’s done well, his silver C4S sold $97,500 his white C4S $130,000 his 964 special color $95,000 all seem way too cheap , but sooner or later market had to correct

These should have gone on BaT instead of a more proprietary auction house. Wild that one of the WBs only sold for $97k.
$185k for the Jade car also doesn’t seem that high compared to other performances on BaT or Pcar.

The challenge with various assumptions about what they “would have” done in another format is just that, assumptions. I am on the ground here and inspected all of the cars so I know what they were/weren’t. I was the buyer on the Ocean Jade car (I sold it to Rudy in 2014! So it held some meaning for me) and was a bidder on the Turquoise car until $215. IMO the cars up to now (sale still going on) brought market correct pricing based on the cars as presented. Having known Rudy personally I think he would be pleased. Of course anyone else it entitled to think otherwise.

Rudy’s family made the choice of Gooding and I for one will not presume to second guess it. No one could predict the Ukrainian issues or the world’s stock market response and it’s entirely possible the level of buyer at Gooding was a better choice given all the unforeseen world issues. By my quick count they got $1.99M so I’m very happy for them. RIP Rudy!

The cars are all about right considering the last 2 weeks. I know the white c4s had an incident report and he paid 125-130 for It shortly before his passing. This auction house had a 12% fee I believe so consider that. I wonder if the c2s and c4s will ever get to mid 2's seems we are being held under because turbos. Rip mi Hermano we all miss you

Can’t comment on the mechanicals but what struck me on all of the 993’s was the condition of the paint- not a single blemish on any of them that I could detect. The Ocean Jade was absolutely stunning. None of these were low mileage examples either, so even more remarkable.

Lot 14 - 96 C4S Polar Silver on Black with Sport Seats - $97500
In no way that's market-correct pricing, that's 2019 pricing. Seems like the steam from the auction really fell off a cliff on this car.
An NB TARGA of all cars just sold for basically that price. And this Silver 4S went for $160k. Let's not forget the Turbo that went for $316k a couple of weeks ago.
Great either way for the family as others have said and I'm sure the convenience makes up for it, but Rudy's collection was always precious and always of high value so there was never any question or doubt there. If any cars deserved the premiums we've been seeing, it should have been these. Would have been nice to see more juice for the squeeze.

There's also the potential that the Polar Silver one would have ended higher if it auctioned after all the other cars (bidders who were outbid on the other cars and don't want to walk away empty handed). Also, it was the silver one that had the accident on the carfax wasn't it? Believe some folks were erroneously reporting the white one (unless the white one did too).
Just my opinion, but I don't think this is market correction. Fully expected from the get-go that these cars would bring in less via this format. First, you have a pool of similar cars all on the auction block at the same time. Second, the pool of bidders registered through this format are much smaller and niche than BaT.
Would these cars have gone for more on BaT if the family listed one at a time individually without any indication of what, if any, cars may be sold in the future? Yes.
Would it have made every 993 owner feel better that these would have sold for even more? Yes.
Do they want to drag this out and entertain all the riff-raff on BaT for some extra money? No.
Think about the family here...
Placing them for auction where they did, allowing that small niche of buyers to see the cars in person without all the online drama makes perfect sense, regardless of whether it makes you happy that these sold for less than they could have elsewhere.
