I get that everyone is different but with pristine credit, no accidents etc… $180k agreed value has to be close to $2k per year to insure.

BAT was a different car. The last fair/good deal in here for a 993 wide body was my former 4S, clean car fax, mileage in the 80's, disclosed paintwork and fully documented services, which sold for $110K to its current owner about 2 months ago. The car was listed on RL marketplace for $119K or $115K can't remember, for like a month with almost no takers. I suspect mostly driven because neither consigner nor former owner could speak much to the car due to short ownership and no meaningful enhancements to the service records done to the car during said period. The person I sold it too said it was a forever car, go figure. Anyway, I happily filled in the blanks for the now owner as I did for a few that reached out to me with questions the seller couldn't answer. I am happy that she went to a good home. I don't think you will find 'deals' like that again anytime soon.

RE the Tarek car, IMHO it's a fair deal as you are going in eyes wide open and your money will be safe as it's not like Porsche A.G. is spitting these out from the assembly line anymore, heck they can't even keep up with production demand for their in period current model year products. I mean, I got 'invited' to pre purchase a new Macan for the wife only because I put in a customer demand for the facelift design a year ago. A deposit 6 months later and here we are. A Macan for crying out loud!

So nothing around this brand tells me this is going to self correct anytime soon. I am about it on a daily.

this should be about right - assuming a median for carriers. i have $335k on my policy and i'm right around $3k/yr. i've always been somewhere just under $1 per $1000 insured.

leading car of the day. must say, i think that number is nuts - even with the 9k miles. i guess if you have zero desire for a manual and you love both the 993 and a targa (although not your traditional targa), this IS THE CAR.

I think it’s a BaT anomaly. Low info bidders with money who only think “model, color, mileage” and get wowed by pretty photo shoots.

In this case - black 993 with low miles = all the money.

A car with low miles is going to be a headache to get squared away from lack of use. Ironically, these low mile cars are not very desirable to me. Mileage isn’t quite low enough to be a time capsule either.

^ I see that often mentioned "low mile cars a headache" and wonder, what is your personal experience with that?

I have had nothing but great luck with very low mileage vehicles that were properly stored and serviced.

I didn’t have a low miles car, but I had a car that wasn’t driven much for years before I owned it. My car had 38k miles when I bought it but it hadn’t been driven for more than a few thousand miles in the previous 5 years of its life before me. Basically a garage queen. So the paint was beautiful, but the rubber was not in great shape. Maybe you’d see that in *any* 993 and I suppose that’s true. A car that’s driven and loved, however, ought to have had maintenance items checked off. Prior to me owning it, my car was sat in a garage and looked at.

Then there is the issue that a 9k car really hasn’t been driven. It hasn’t been shaken down, so it can be hard to really know what you’re getting. As opposed to a car that’s regularly driven and its warts exposed and addressed.

I’m not at all saying that all low mile cars are bad, but I suspect bidders are thinking that all low miles cars are good - and that’s a mistake IMO.

there are 4 bidders that have been active above the $100k mark. certainly seems to have multiple bidder interest even though we might not consider it overly desirable.

i think the red interior is a big plus for some, but the pleated interior is also the bottom of desirability for most people, i think. the red will trump the pleated, though.

BaT is a weird world. It’s almost a market to itself.
