These cars have skyrocketed because most are 25 yrs old and that puts them in the classic category. Every car manufacturer is looking to go electric. Electric card have no feel, no sound, it's an empty experience. 993 are loud, a blast to drive and very analog. As time passes car enthusiast will crave these cars more and more. So I would pick one up now while you can because I think prices will continue to climb. There is no end in sight. Just look at prices for 3.2, SC, 912, the long nose, short nose, 356. They all have been climbing after their 25 anniversary.

I agree with ender928 on economic collapse most of us own our cars outright so they would sit in our garages. I would assume though the guys with new P cars as a second car toy may have problems selling at this time.

30k miles black C2S on Pcarmarket went for $135k with fees. Lower on the spectrum but it also didn’t have any interesting options.

If only I could have it PPI'ed outside of their premises, I would have given it a try... I went to see the car over the weekend - visually looks nice, but god knows what's underneath.

It's a tippy w/ 99k on odo so fair, not cheap.
And then there're these in-between MODs...
The phrase that comes to mind is "trying too hard".

Interesting... so you think that tip w/ 99k is only worth that? Thought it'd be more in the 80s.
As with the MODs... also prefer the OEM, but that's ofc always subjective.

For that Arena Red Tippy car with 99k... if you work the numbers backwards, you can see its value and also the vast separation when buying a "good" car out the gates. This also works in the other direction to see what is involved to get a car sorted in a premium way.

Let's say you have a C2S that's lower miles and in a desirable color combo, and that price starts at $140k.

-$30k for being Tiptronic (probably the cost to do a complete swap properly)
-$20k for 99k miles
-$10k for body mods and paint work
-$10k for Arena Red on Tan (subjective; versus another color combo you prefer)
-$5k for weird aftermarket wheels (price of Technology package hollow spokes)

You're already back down to $65k and we don't even know what else lies underneath with that car or what other stories lay hidden. It also doesn't have Sport Seats. It also looks like it was repainted, potentially, given the body mods that it has. Even if you went through with the transmission swap, it will never be original, regardless of the expense. If you want a Black interior car... well, same thing. You *could* go through the effort of changing its color, but you also can't.

I think this illustrates more of why clean cars command higher premiums in today's market more so than it does why that particular car is priced so low.
