It's not a PHEV, you don't charge it, is uses kinetic energy recovery systems to charge the battery. Actually that's a good question - what is this THEV doing, just using exhaust gases to spin a charging unit?

Yes this is the e-turbo.

The battery is the Varta V4Drive and more specifically the V4D2170 cell.

Was hoping to keep my Targa GTS due August and not have to trade it in for next model GT3, but with all that's going on about new tech, I'm worried that may not be an option 😥. Porsche pricing seems to moving into Lambo/Aston/Ferrari stratosphere.

No kidding. If just the S is 520 Hp and hybrid I bet it’ll be $180K or so pre tax for a decently optioned one. That’s a bit absurd imo. But I guess the days of the 911 as the “obtainable” super car are over.

992.1 production is stopping very soon.

So there are currently only the following choices:

1) 2024 Around 400bhp Carrera (Base)

2) 2024 541bhp mild hybrid GTS - maybe even 2025 delivery for US?

3) Early 2025 520bhp mild hybrid Carrera S

4) Early 2025 NA GT3

5) Hybrid Turbo but manual option (2WD) - not sure when
The deltas between Base, S, and GTS seem odd to me. Seems like the S should be more like 470-480 HP or else why get the GTS (I get it’s more than just extra HP but still).

I thought the same thing. That is a very large difference between the base and S. I don’t see why they would do this. I had the impression that Porsche was going to further differentiate the GTS from the S and that it would come closer to the Turbo models than the base or the S.

Do all of the car magazines (Autocar, Car and Driver, Motortrend, etc.) have everything wrong/misinformed. I’m definitely confused as to what the S is going to be performance and price wise compared to the GTS or the base.

The magazines said Base and S were increasing by 10-20 HP. I only saw 520 HP for the S on this site.

So the same e-Turbo unit provides generation/charger during periods where added engine performance isn't being called for, and then runs off the battery pack to provide added boost when needed? I wonder if the dash is going to have lamps to indicate the charging and harvesting cycles that the unit is in? They need that, gives a Formula 1 feel to the whole experience.

So, to be clear... there is no hybrid motor in the drivetrain per-se in any of these hybrid models? Instead the turbos are electrically powered to provide NA-like throttle response from a turbocharged powerplant?

Neato. I guess they found the mole with that car & driver report that there would be a model with a front e-motor and rear ICE...

They are able to achieve this level of performance increase just from an electric turbo?

It’s because of the aerokit wing.

The GTS was rumored to be a new 3.6L ICE at one point - I'm guessing that's the case here?

As for the track time, I'm sure the new car sits on Michelin PSS5 (successor to PS4S), if not Cup2s/similar. So that probably helps too.
