New Nick Murray Video - S vs GTS
#376
As a GTS owner, I thank Nick for helping me pick single handedly the most important option in my car and it was free. Leather inlays! I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but I do love that he shares as much knowledge as he can and blends it in with his own sense of humor. That is a man I'd love to meet one day and shake his hand. Love all the effort that he puts into his channel. I started watching him when he first started having problems with his 991.

True, but let's focus on what you said: "a few of the people". I don't think it is most of them, or even a lot of them (myself included). I think it is the very vocal minority both of GTS owners on one side and haters on the other. The vast, vast majority of the people seem to realize that it is all about personal preference and the GTS is a good choice for some people and a bad choice for others - just like so many other things in life.

continued responses to this thread remind me of the never ending meeting where people keep asking questions at the end even though it is way past lunch time or the end of day.

I find Nick Murray wonderful at breaking down technical data, features and equipment etc. However I do find him a little opinionated, specifically as it relates to “value”. Opinions break down quickly when the opinion is related to value. What’s valuable to one person may not be to another. It’s an opinion. It’s not a fact. This is especially true with luxury items. I’m sure many peoples opinion would say from a value perspective no 911 is worth it. Go buy a 718. In fact, don’t buy a Porsche at all. Many other brands offer more value. What I love about Porsche is that there are so many options. So many that it’s easy to get lost in the details. I’m guilty myself. My first Porsche was a Turbo S. Not a value play there! But I didn’t do it for a “sweet spot”. At the end of the day. Buy that you love. Buy what you can afford. Or maybe splurge if it’s what makes you happy. Or don’t!

But I think Nick is also pretty clear that it's just his opinion, and he's also very self-deprecating. So in these kinds of videos he's typically saying "I don't really think the GTS is the way to go, but it's just my opinion. If you like the GTS and value the options it includes, go for it!" And the response from some is "NICK MURRAY IS INSULTING ME TO THE VERY CORE OF MY BEING AND LYING ABOUT MY GTS, WHICH IS THE BEST CAR EVER INVENTED, BUT ONLY IF YOU GET THE EXACT SAME OPTIONS I DID. IF YOU DIDN'T, I HATE YOU TOO. ALSO YOU ARE POOR."

I’ve been on this forum for about 2+ years now, and over that time, I’m still baffled by the number of grown men (mostly) that feel they need to seek the affirmation, or confirmation - from complete strangers - that their build, their choice of car or options is perfect. It’s like a bunch of teenage girls who need to be assured of something. Just cracks me up. 😂
We have become a society, where people can’t decide for themselves, but need, no, crave the affirmation of the collective group before they can make a decision. 😳 And not just cars. I know several folks who can’t even decide, on their own, on who to vote for unless their “Facebook friends” agree on who to vote for. Just so pathetic.
PEOPLE: Nick Murray is one person. One opinion. Make your own and be happy.

I agree with Nick for the most part about this topic, yet I’m trading in my C4S for a GTS 4 still.

Yeah I don't disagree. I have no problems with him. Being heavily opinionated is basically a requirement on YouTube these days. Love it or hate it... people tune in more for that (same with news on TV) than just someone spouting off technical data. I think it's human nature when you're so emotionally and financially invested to not want to hear criticism about your purchase and some people have a hard time understanding that opinions are just that... opinions. I try to live by the mantra... If my wife wants me to have an opinion, she will give me one.... Fortunately I didn't listen to her (OR Nick Murray when it came to buying my Porsche
Can i ask where your picture is from? Italy?

All Nick is really trying to say is: build the Homer Simpson car of your dreams. Is that really so controversial?
Just look at this lovely Python Green Carrera GTS:
