I've very pleased I ordered a 992.1 GTS manual .... This car prototype is not at all appealing to me.

The full release usually looks better than the prototype, hard to judge fully

Car brands put effort into making prototypes look not as great. AP in an interview said this exactly when the 992 GT3 was launched.

It's not just how it looks... I'm sure they will dress it up

The Hybrid question, replete with the "no manual" question

the 10k minimum price bump

And of course bigger, heavier, etc And "more human than human"

TBH it's making the 997.2 look better every day

New Configurator is obviously showing MY24 with new pricing and lower color selection and yet the exterior and interior look exactly like MY23 (just look at the beautiful physical tachometer!)…. So are we all settled on 992.2 will not be for MY24?

Yes, MY24 is 100% not .2. When the .2 comes out, as many have said there will be plenty of marketing materials. Also recent "insider" sources have hinted at 992.2 coming during calendar year 2024 as MY25 model.

That makes sense to me. This one seems to be done in the dark of night to slip in a major price increase. Although, good on PCNA. They’ve been pissed with dealer ADMs (a guy from PCNA told me they don’t condone the dealers’ behavior and have tried to get them not to do ADM but they can’t control them).

The dealer ADMs are not going away because of these price increases. The way to stop ADMs - build additional production capacity so this car doesn't have a 1+ year wait list.

I think that's a bit of B.S. from the guy at PCNA. Yes, they do not control the dealer. However, if they wanted to stop ADM's, they have one thing they do control... allocations. They simply penalize the dealer with fewer allocations. Can't charge an ADM on a car you don't have to sell. They won't do this because they aren't serious about cracking down on dealers who charge ADMs.

No inside knowledge here but just from a logical point of view, I somehow doubt that the allocations for a Porsche franchisee are truly at the whim of PCNA to arbitrarily supply or restrict.

Porsche’s philosophy has always been to sell one less car than there is demand. This is nothing new. And dealers get allocations based on their performance and other factors (such as size of dealership). Sure, the pandemic shortage may have exacerbated the philosophy but PCNA has never given out unlimited allocations and never will. Oh and Porsche has produced MORE 911s for the US market post-pandemic (see below).

Dealers make a handsome profit even if they sell at MSRP (heck they made money selling discounted Porsches before the pandemic). The fact that dealers charge ADM is a case of “I can so I will.” The huge increase in demand is simply much higher than the small increase in supply. PCNA only raises its prices once a year and has been behind the 8 ball but is now catching up so unless demand stays red hot, ADMs should slowly fade into the abyss unless dealers keep pushing it and people are willing to pay it. It’s simple economics of supply and demand!

Case in point, here is how many 911s Porsche sold in each of the last 5 years. They’ve been producing MORE cars for US market post-pandemic.

2018: 9,647
2019: 9,265
2020: 8,840
2021: 10,042
2022: 10,204

Depends if you’re talking MY or production year. Much of the rest of the world still refers to cars by the year of manufacture, not the US model year.

What did you really expect the PCNA rep to say to you (a Porsche customer)? That they like and condone ADMs?

PAG uses ADM as a backdoor indirect way to funnel trunk money to high performing dealerships without the additional $$$ outlay showing up on PAG's now very public financial statements.
