Wasn't it?! I was gonna throw this out there in my post but didn't. Not really the same subject, but I gotta mention my favorite book, "The Wave" by Susan Casey. It does discuss ship salvage, but goes into the phenomenon of rogue waves and how they've been misunderstood and how they've affected the shipping industry and been a menace to mankind. She also hangs out with the big wave surfers, Laird Hamilton being the main focus. I really, really liked this book. Have read it twice since it was released and plan to re-read it again in the future.

Oh, one other bit of non-fiction that's on a related tangent...

I was in Europe traveling at the time and completely missed this entire thing happening. I only heard about it WAY after the fact. Shortly after reading this great article, I happened to meet an IT higher-up at at a kid's graduation party, who worked for, I think, APL. He said, "Oh yeah, I remember THAT! I was stuck at our corporate headquarters for weeks 24/7 making sure it didn't destroy us!"

It affects their paychecks, thus, the impact is very real. My SA is truly concerned about pay for the month of March. Porsche Corporate hasn’t been much help.

Car dealers did great last year with all cars selling at MSRP. They should have plenty of money to weather a half month of delayed revenue.

Just visiting my local SA and luckily, they were not impacted. According to my SA, the ship was destined for RI, Florida and Texas…so mid-Atlantic dealerships were not (directly) impacted.

Just got the call from my dealer. I should get a new allocation in the next 48 hours. They aren’t sure if I’m able to make any changes yet. Makes sense as I just noticed today that my TYD page has disappeared.

I also just received the call. My 3/11 delivery GT3 Touring has been rescheduled for September. Not as quickly as I had expected. Then comes model year issues. Would you take a ‘22 in September? Should be a ‘23. I have been waiting for this car for 18months. I have been without a car since 10/3/20, due to pre-trade issues, and being promised a ( fictitious) delivery date on an S. Fortunately, I live in NYC. I am becoming grumpier by the minute.
