$10k more for a Touring GT3 makes no sense when it costs an additional $10k to install the wing it badly needs.

Im patiently waiting for a 992 Turbo S allocation. I can be happy driving my loaded Unicorn AeroKit 991.2 Turbo while I wait. But honestly, I'll be lurking and looking at the used AeroKit Turbos that come up for sale or auction. But I'm not paying over sticker for one.

And if it is a chip shortage causing Porsche to build so few sport cars, can anyone explain why there is a glut of new Macans, Cayennes, Panameras, and Taycans????

Probably some combination of unusually high demand for 911s and poor planning on Porsches part. Apparently they are increasing 911 production, at least according to my SA. Also eagerly awaiting my allocation for a GTS. It's gonna be a wait.

Glut? The dealers lots are empty - all dealers except Alfa Romeo and Dodge 1500 Ram pickups. A friend at work just got one, not because they wanted a pickup, but since they were in stock - whatever, just get one.

I love in CA and am waiting from one dealer (5 months now) for a GTS allocation at MSRP.

thanks to everyone who replied on my previous post.

I agree that CA dealers are the worst at trying to gouge customers over MSRP.

should I go to an out of state smaller dealer? Looking for a GTS cab at MSRP.

are there any issues from buying out of state?

thanks

Recently, most people seem to be reporting that dealers will not sell to out of state customers. YMMV.

Yes, there is anecdotal evidence to support this. It’s not clear whether it’s something coming from PCNA or dealers are just fed up with people incessantly cross shopping.

Only 1of 3 GT3 s are Tourings. That may explain the additional charge.

IMO, it's a stupid policy if Porsche allows new Porsche buyers to quickly resell for a profit.

And Ford and GM are cracking down on dealer new car markups. They care about their customers. HELLO!! PORSCHE???

That's laughable since Ford has been selling new and used Ford Raptors at a mark-up for AT LEAST 5-6 years.......and they still do it. The Ford Focus RS sells with a mark-up as well.

I've been away from the forums for a while, over a year pretty much. I just started talking to a dealer in Southern California who has a 911 build slot available, locks in June, delivery in August. They want 15k over MSRP for a base. Apologies if there's a better thread on this somewhere, but is this "reasonable?"

Lots of considerations here, the way things are currently, in say, 2 years it would be worth, 95% of what I paid, even with the markup? But of course, there's no guarantee things will be the way they are in 2 years. I assume the shortages will clear up by then and used car values will decline, but are we sure that the decline will hit the 911? With the backlog of demand right now, my thought is that it will take 12-18 months to catch up for 911's, even if the shortages were resolved tomorrow. Macan's, Panamera's, Cayenne's will revert to closer to "normal" supply/demand balance fairly quickly, but not sure if the 911 will at this point.

For context, in Southern California there is a 2022 Macan S currently listed on Autotrade at 16k over MSRP. Insane.

Anyway, wanted to get the thoughts here. Appreciate it.

I got a Targa allocation. Posted about it that they wanted 25k over. 40k for the s. It's ridiculous. I told them after trying to negotiate it down that I'm not interested. If anyone wants it, I can let you know who I spoke with. Nvidia cards are coming down. Wonder if it's a sign for other things. Ha

That is typical of SoCal. Carrera S’ are $20k-25k over sticker, so $15k over sticker for a base sounds about right.

i decided to opt out, and wait. I bought a Mx-5 Mazda RF. Manual, midnight blue and bilstein shocks and nice, ...just not fast.

I think i will revisit in 2024.

It's looking tough out there, and with higher interest rates...can see a situation where ADM dissapear soon, and used 911 start losing 20% right away, as new ones will be available for 10% discount come next year.
