I think I'm going with GIAC on my 992TTS. They're reliable tunes.

So you port flashed?

I have no issues removing the ecu by the way, it's just way too laborious.

Do they have dynos posted yet?

Can you post a link here to their obd tuning reference on their website please, I can't seem to readily locate that? Tks.

You have 2 choices, drive your car to a tuner or yank your ECU. Simple

I had their software on all of my past Porsches, and also my upcoming TTS will have it too. It’s great power without compromise.

The ecu is easily removable in the 992, just pull the wing off and it’s right there. Can be done R&R in around an hour.

If you re read my post I mentioned that I was told they can port flash but are working on that process for their dealers. I wouldn’t imagine they would post it up until it’s ready. I remember for the 991.2 they were one of, if not the first, to tune the Carrera cars vie bench flash. They figured out port flash a few months later but it still took time to roll out port flashing for the dealers.

I’m not a software engineer so I have no idea what’s involved but I’d imagine there’s securities involved to make sure others can’t easily copy methods.

heres a quick link I found from a Google search for the product launch with some plots.

Oh that's a good thought. Maybe once the GTS is out, tuners will be able to figure out exactly how to tweek it.

Now that's interesting! I wonder how they are going to check that from a technological standpoint. I don't believe a simple OBD scanner will tell you if the ECU tune is factory or not. I imagine sops would need manufacturer specific equipment to scan the checksums on the factory installed ECU or...?

Under current CA law new cars only need a smog check after 8 years. Knowing CA I wouldn’t be surprised to see the initial check adjusted.

Drove it more today. Much faster than stock...absolutely worth the 3k. The butt dyno is telling me its very similar to my 992 TTS. TTS may launch harder but overall I think its close.
Slow rolling start (5 mph) against friends Model 3 Performance, I was probably at 95% throttle and easily pulling away at 75 mph before I bailed.

I plan to get it on the dyno when they install my lowering springs tomorrow.

I'm picking up a 992 Targa4S and it sounds like M Engineering is a good option. What lowering springs did you decide to go with and has it had a dramatic impact on ride quality? I have a '19 GT3RS and my wife hates riding with me. She really misses the power and comfort of the 720S I just sold, so I'm looking for a car that flies under the radar, but still has some decent power and nice appeal. She prefers the look of the Targa to soft top of the cabs, otherwise I probably would have gone with a TTS Cab.

Anyone have any experience with this? And what's involved in the install?

They get the checksum from the factory and check to see it matches. This is why you should consider waiting for COBB or some other OBD tune so you can reflash back to stock for emissions check.

This sounds like a very plausible scenario but what a ridiculous amount information that would need to be compiled and incorporated into what ever scanning devices they are developing for this ridiculous endeavor.
I'm sure California's air will be much cleaner after the relatively minute number of guys with modified ECUs are rounded up and sent to the gallows.
You can steal more stuff from Nordstrom than you can carry in San Francisco with impunity but don't you dare mess with the ECU in your car. Simply amazing.

There is nothing to it and it is already happening. https://www.thedrive.com/news/41606/...oday-heres-why

Massachusetts and a couple other states have been doing these strict ECU software tests for a few years now. People in those States have figure out how to live with it. Californians will too.
