Thanks, Blue. Any chance you can see if it will enable windows/up with the key FOB? Also, to a recent posters question. The unit will function fine indefinitely, the update fee is just for the latest software updates. Think of it just like your computer (if you still had to pay for updates). Hope that makes sense?

So, in order to maintain functionality of the tool there is an annual update fee of $295; have I interpreted this annual fee correctly?

Jason
The annual fee is to update the vehicle data. If not updated, the tool remains fully functional for all of the vehicles that were updated prior to the end of the one year “free” update window that comes with the tool when bought new. This is only an issue for you and I if/when we were to buy a newer car, 2024 and newer at the moment. The intended audience/market for this tool are automotive technicians, not individual car owners like us.

Got it; thank you for the clarification.

It sounds like a great tool!

What the unit shows as both the LIB and Version number is: 2.74
The OS Version is: V03.60.00
There are also TPMS Version and Software numbers. If you need those DM me and I'll put those together as well.

It is NOT possible to turn the *** system off with this tool. The tool does display an icon for this purpose. However when this icon is selected the tool displays text that this option is not available for the car. In this case the car is my 2021 C2S.

I sent you a reply to your message but this forum will not let me attach any pictures to a reply. So . . . here is a picture of the screen the tool will display that shows the version and software information. To access it select the following icons in this order: 1.) "MAXICOM", 2.) "SETTINGS", 3.) "About". The right half of the screen can be scrolled up and down to access all of the various software and version information.

The unit recognizes all systems and subsystems via Blutooth, grabs the VIN and stores it...just the same as other vehicles we use it on.
I was looking at the Autel MS906BT on the Autel e-shop. In the Notes section it says that after the first year, it costs $495 annually to update the software. That seems to defeat the purpose of buying your own diagnostic tool.

There are other cheaper alternatives if you peruse this and other threads.

If your primary or only need/want is to reset the Oil Service Minder you are correct.

If you want to do more, PIWIS is cheaper (+ doubt you'll need to renew) and if you work on multiple cars, Launch is your best bet since you get two years free and IIRC, the yearly is cheaper than the Autel not to mention based on feedback there's a lot more people using Launch than Autel. Not selling anything just placing it in perspective. YMMV

Thank you again Blue for taking the plunge and verifying the Autel wifi model works.

I purchased the MX808 model and was able to successfully reset the oil maintenance light on my 2022 C4s.

For those for purchase a MX808 version, the LIB was version 2.76, OS version V03.60.00, software 5.40.00 and firmware 1.08.

All in all don't mind the price seeing as Porsche would charge this amount to purchase the MX808 unit just for 1 oil change interval.

Still can't believe it took the aftermarket 3 model years to catch up, but glad they did finally!

Does anyone know if the cheaper Autel MD808P (or the Foxwell NT710) will work to reset the service indicator?
