Then your question has been answered. Plus and minuses for both I'm familiar with:

PIWIS: PLUS: Latest version covers all Porsche vehicles I own (2020 Macan, 2021 992). MINUS: Steep learning curve, only good for Porsche, limited SEARCH function, though WiFi available Porsche still recommends when programming not to use and remain tethered via USB cable (definite PITA), need to get VCI, software and PC as separate components (vs Launch or others)

Launch: PLUS: Latest version covers 992. Search function available throughout, for certain items (SRI) more intuitive (IMHO), WiFI, small size hand held tablet beats schlepping a laptop, initial program offering is two years of free updates. MINUS: Will never be as complete as PIWIS

Price by the time (assuming you don't already have a laptop to sacrifice) count on 6-800 for an all in one purchase for Launch as to PIWIS about a grand.

Bottom line is unless you already have an analyzer for your other toys (RossTech for my Touareg) and you have other than Porsche vehicles Launch, Autel or other makes sense - check for free update duration, number of updates per year and vehicles covered. etc. If you just have Porsches and want to do some serious mods or do your own work PIWIS is your choice.

I am surprised there is no secret sequence of buttons to reset like there are on most cars.

That would be a dreadful loss of revenue...

Would be good to see the full post, can you post a link?. The procedure actually sounds like a reset on my M2? Carl

VERY doubtful that works on a 992.

Quite right, it's just that in the inevitable rush to progress what was a simple reset button, now you have a convoluted way to reset the odometer. But correct, you do in the end push it in to reset, but I somehow doubt the method described will reset the SRI. But hopefully the OP will post confirmation one way or another.

I have an iCarSoft that I used on my 991,1 but from what I read it's not going to work on my three more modern Porsches. ('20 and '21's). Just looking for service resets more than anything, so its the $ 800 tool required, I guess. A tad pricey for that....so Porsche's plan is clear - take it to the dealer for your oil service. Hauling used oil to the county landfill is may have just lost more of its appeal!

Try an indie in your neighborhood. As to oil, I recycle all of it: 9 qts for Touareg, 8 for Macan, 8.5 for 992 and 16 qts for chaincase (8 each side) + 8.3 qts for engine for Olga - about 12.5 gallons. Gets used for heating.

Under Smart Service I found the following options on my 2022 C2S. Looks like services can be reset via PCM. I haven't reached the first official oil change so I haven’t actually tried to reset.

FINALLY some common sense. Question is does this count as being under warranty service if you do it?
