992 Carrera T Club
But since you brought it up, yes, I am of the opinion that RAS doesn't add much and takes away much from a road car that doesn't see track or autocross, especially If you value the rear bias feel of a 911. It's my personal opinion expressed in the exact same way you and every other person who posts on RL expresses their opinion. RAS does add unsprung weight. RAS can feel synthetic. RAS can make the rear-bias 911 feel more like a mid engine car. RAS does make the car quicker on the track and autocross. Though I concur with those sentiments, they are not just my opinion. They have been expressed over and over and over by reviewers who have experience driving both RAS and non RAS equipped cars and specifically 992s, which are quite different form 991.2s, whether it's the narrower body with thinner tires and smaller contact patch or different RAS calibration we're talking about.

My first Porsche. Planning for it to be a daily driver. Was wanting an S, was offered a GTS but seemed like too much car for me, and this allocation fell in my lap. Had to rush and finalize the build over a weekend, watched countless hours of YouTube and read a gazillion forum posts. I’m sure there will
be things I may have wanted to add/delete but I’ll have to save that wisdom for the next one.

Lolz.
@timothymoffat @Mike818 There is no "battle". Personalizing or dramatizing things others say is never a good look. I can't recall the last time I or anyone else said one is better over the other. When RAS is discussed, most of the convo is centered around when it makes sense and when it doesn't and yes, many times it's by people who are buying their first 911 (notice I didn't say you @Mike818 lol).
I don't know how many times I've said I personally have nothing against RAS and would option it if it made sense for my use. It currently doesn't nor does it make sense for most user cases.

and apparently some have forgotten that there is no such thing as a real 911 anymore. Words like "pure" have no place / make no sense in a conversation about the water cooled datacenter on wheels that Porsche now refers to as a "911".....

I didn't think you were coming at me or anything, but you did play the "you had to be there to understand" card. So yes I was there......

The 992 sub, unlike any other sub, is filled with people who are buying their first 911. Nothing wrong with that and nothing wrong with recognizing that people who have never owned one have less context than people who have. It's the reason they come to the forum in the first place - to ask for opinions and get feedback from people who do.
As for your other comment, you may think we're all buying fake 911s, but the only thing I know, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that a) the last 911 you owned was 19 years ago, and b) you don't currently own a 911, making your opinion less weighty to those of us who do currently own a 911. As someone who has now owned 14 911s of various vintages including cars from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s and now 20s, I don't think there is anything fake or non911 about my 992T. In fact, to me, it's the perfect evolution of the other vintages I've owned.

I was joking. the /s means sarcasm
I thought it would have been obvious, me having owned a 996, that I was regurgitating the stuff being thrown my way from back in the day. I was attempting to use a more extreme version of what some believe about RAS to perhaps change perspective.

I'm trying to decide whether it's worth upgrading to the Bose sound system on my T order. I don't listen to music much while driving my current 991.1 (with Bose), so I think I'd be okay with the base radio, but I've heard that it's really bad. Anyone have the base radio and happy with it?
