I agree; unless you're on a long trip trying to get the best gas mileage possible, it seems to be nearly pointless. For anyone trying to push this car to the published top speed of 181mph + I wouldn't be surprised if 7th gear is required.
I haven't driven my T enough to get a true feel for the higher gears, but on my way home on the freeway, day one from the dealership, I used 7th a few times just to get a feel for it. I've less than 200 miles so far (as I deliberate on PPF or Ceramic or both etc.).
I have a contrarian view - the 7th gear is amazing!
600 miles in one week so far and I use 7th gear a lot. At 80mph I'm at 2K RPM which is still in the peak torque band. I daily my car (50mi commute everyday) and so far loving it!
Took a drive down Hwy 1 today adding about 100mi. Saw several Porsche's along the way.
It had just rained yesterday so a lot of the roads were very wet, I got to try Wet mode and its pretty awesome!

Haha funny I literally never let my engine get below 2,500rpm. I'm usually cruising at 3k rpm in any given gear. Engine just seems much happier there.

Good to know. On a different note, the white with the Exclusive Design wheels looks good.

@stonekutter likewise I have been using 7th gear more than I first thought even over moorland roads and I am getting high 20's mpg car is brilliant.
Best Devon Racer.
I put just over 12K on my 2023 T since late April and use 7th as much as possible, I don't see the need to be in a lower gear for quicker acceleration while driving 80+ on the highway already. Besides, I don't like spending money on gas at what I deem partially unnecessary.

I agree. Its worth using the 7th gear even as a way of learning to use the gearbox otherwise it'll feel totally alien when you do decide you need it. Even at 70 to 80mph it feels like it has enough oomph to make very reasonable progress. The T has such a responsive engine and surprising torque at 2k revs. It's very difficult to say that it has a couple of Turbos strapped to it. No lag or low rev lethargy whatsoever. It's a real peach of an engine and a perfect match to the superb Manual gearbox.
Probably my favorite modern 911 to date apart from the more track focused GT3s or RS' I've owned. Even then as a road only car I think I prefer it over the GT3/RS as it has just enough poke and much more accessible at road speeds whereas the GT3 doesn't get as many chances to be in the high rev range it craves without going at insane and illegal speeds.
I hate to tell you but you were not using RAS much if at all on the tail of the dragon! Sorry it doesn’t work at those speeds. 😇. RAS is either high speed (track) or low speed (party trick).
I am not sure this is accurate. According to the Porsche track driver in the below linked video at the 9 minute mark, RAS kicks in below 31 mph (50 kph) and above 49 mph (80 kph). He was speaking of a GT3 but I don’t see why RAS on a T would be different.
I haven't found a use for 7th gear yet. At US highway speeds (75-85mph) RPM feels way too low in 7th gear.
At 85-100 it’s a perfect open road gear to get 50 mpg and get to where you’re going fast. When you get to an uphill grade downshift until it flattens back out. 7 has a use on open freeways. Just not a legal use.
https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PRXNQU71 Looking for feedback on my build. 95% daily driver, 5% track. Got some daily comforts like RAS, 18-way, folding mirrors, etc. I decided on guards red stitching and seat belts for more of a pop compared to the subtle chalk interior. I'm a bit torn: Do you think a white tach and chrono dial would go okay with the red stitching and seat belts? Or should i stay with Red?
