Not in this case. Porsche has been looking at designing hydrogen powered ICE that in early modeling and tests looks very very efficient. A bigger challenge is efficiently producing the hydrogen at scale.

Also it was in response to a question in the forum - ie, is a COBB tune available for our cars. A simple post (not spammy in my opinion) with some basic info and a link to read more and get informed. I'm glad it was posted.

I owned a 991.2 T in the past and all of a sudden would like to get the 992 T.

However dealer just told me there are no more allocations for the 992.1 T but the 992.2 T will be available for orders 10/2024 already.

Is this information correct?

And better to pick up a stock 992.1 T now or wait for the 992.2 T?

I’d wait for the 992.2. Rumours are there will be some big changes

only if we have the crystal ball, right?

if I were you, do the search. If I find one with the spec you like, buy it now. You like it, keep it. You don’t, get the 992.2 later if better. If you’re “newer is better” type, keep waiting.

I had to get on the last wave of 992.1 simply because I want the last bit of analog gauge display. Small thing to care about I know but it matters to me to a point that I want a 992.2 less. Or simply I can wait to make the decision when it comes out but I won’t have the chance to buy what they don’t make new anymore.

The 992.2 not having analog tach is a big reason I finally decided to get a T allocation. Maybe its silly but I like that vs. full digital.

That being said I'm sure Porsche will make .2 compelling for many other reasons.

I'm wondering if the reason they went full digital is to offer a full screen GPS mode like Audi has had for a few years now.

Not.

Cost saving.

Full digital
The amount of digital tech in the 992 is one of the reasons I preferred my 718. The whole dash just looks sparse. I guess like an EV, not that I've ever set foot in one! LOL. I want a car, not a cell phone. Hmm, maybe that's why I hung on to my Treo for as long as I could before switching to an all digital smart phone.

LOL! Yes, I'm still lurking. And technically, I still have the T since it's still in my possession. (awaiting shipping)
Plus, I still have the 911T T-shirts, so I'm still a member of the club.

In all seriousness, I agree with you, with one of the reasons we pulled the trigger when we did was the 992.1 dash and layout appearing to be the last of the 'analog' (well mostly analog appearing) panels. I just do not find endless but very functional touchscreens as engaging as analog dials and *****. I joke to my auto buddies that I am a "..magneto guy in a coil on plug world"

Damn, if that’s true it makes me feel like I somewhat lucked out on getting a T allocation in December. Does anyone know how many total 2024 992.1 Ts are planned to be built? I read somewhere once that more GT3s are built than Ts but not sure how true that is.

Only the people that get this joke are old enough to be our friends. I like to toss out the word "points" into a car crowd and see who reacts with immediate recollection of the time they fixed their points on the side of the road with a nail file to get the car home. (I used a key because when I was 17 I didn't know what a nail file was!)
