992 Carrera T Club
Depends on what you find entertaining. Despite being turbocharged, the T drives like an NA Carrera. Torque comes in progressively so you have to wring it out. To some, that's the fun part. It doesn't have stupid power so you can modulate it in the twisties, and yet you rarely feel the need for more in a straight line. Turbo buyers usually like stomping on the gas in a straight line. If that's what you're into, you may not appreciate all that the T has to offer.
How does everyone feel about the brakes in the new T. I would imagine grip would be great. But do you ever feel like you need just a bit more power to get the job done? I don't drive in a city. I live in the mountains. Every way out of town I have mountains to go over and tons of great curves. So 90% of my driving is on curves. Not stop and go red light to red light drag racing. Living 72 miles from the tail of the dragon just proves the 0-60 power does not help you there. It is about the wheelbase, grip, and brakes are key to the dragon. The 458 was just overpowering , a fun car for the dragon is the cayman size, or the Fiat 500 and it is 0-60 in 8 seconds if you are downhill.
Do you feel much body roll in the Carrera T. I would think not.
Thanks again everyone

So I’ve read the exhaust flaps close in sport+ vs being open in sport, is this a fact? If so why? Does it have any impact on TQ or HP? I always assumed more exhaust flow generates more power. Maybe something to do with environmental impact?
I just need the power to pass on these tight mountain curves, when the road straightens just a tiny bit, I need to have the juice to pass in a tight spot. Do you feel the 2023 Carrera T allows you to do this sort of thing?
I love My weekend drives to Yercaud, a small hill town in southern India.
IMO, this is the highlight of T

Yeah, I hear ya' , I'm not one of those muscle car people that like just straight-line speed. To me how it handles in the twisties is the magic. I have never in my life even bought an American car. I may be missing something sounds like the drag strip will be calling. I just need the power to pass on these tight mountain curves, when the road straightens just a tiny bit, I need to have the juice to pass in a tight spot. Do you feel the 2023 Carrera T allows you to do this sort of thing? I have no idea how the T drives. the reviews seem to like it. I find the turbo gets dead spots when passing, from 5,000 to 7800rpm there is nothing left. The 458 was at 5,000rpm and would pass anything on the planet from 5,000 to 9,000. I love that range, I like to have a car that wants to play up there and still have juice when I stand on it. I know the straight-line speed of these turbo s car is crazy, they are the fastest thing Porsche makes in a road car it seems. Even the GT3RS is slower 0-60. But I don't need 0-60 as much as grip, brakes, and a power band that gives me juice in a tight space.

- zero problem passing, but keep in mind that torque won't be as much on tap as with the turbo. Worse case, a tune can change that if you find it lacking.
- pulls linear to redline, sounds amazing and definitely thrives in the higher range. I don't recall flat spots but haven't driven the car in a while. Maybe someone else can chime in.
- grip is amazing. You actually have to work hard to break traction. A leap forward over the 991.
- brakes look small but they work like big reds. Truly and pleasantly surprised. I think the only environment where an upgrade may be warranted is frequent tracking.
- I think a key thing for you is to keep the car light. Get it in manual and avoid options that add weight. I bet your turbo is around 3,700 lbs. The RWD, 3,240 lb T will feel much more alive and engaging.
Keep us posted!

As Wilder says the magic of the T shines brightest in its lightest, simplest most basic form. Porsche really knocked it out of the park with this one. I've owned countless Porsches and currently have a 4RS alongside the T but the latter never feels inferior. With Manual you get to rev it ***** out just like a good Nasp engine without the overboosted torque at lower revs which makes you change gear up earlier with bigger Turbos.
Much more a fun 911 than I was expecting and in a different league to a 992S PDK I briefly owned.

Hello all!! I feel terribly ashamed to be this late to the party. Please forgive me.
I’ve been away for a long time, but back now!
Lots has changed. I’ve a 6yr old and 2yr old and still a rather self indulgent self spec’d 997.2 GT3 Club Sport:
It’s going nowhere. But…it doesn’t meet the growing demands for a family fun weekend cruiser. So I had to research and find something different enough but still with emotion, noise, feel and purpose (gosh, nearly said ethos!!).
it didn’t take long. I’ve fallen in love with the 992.1 shape. It’s fits right into to my 964 and 997 quiver. So it was all about which model. Turbo too fast and too dear, Carrera no manual. My routes are twisty, point and squirt, wide b road with good opportunities for overtaking. My personal driving is done early in the morn, with nothing about. My driveway is steep but my 997.2 GT3 with a very low nose goes up it with the Factory FAL and with nose up, the GT3 still measured lower than the 992T (on std lip not sports lip) and I think the overhang of the 992 is shorter. So I’m in the clear I think without specing a FAL. (comments welcome).
After trawling through this thread, speaking to a few of this in the know, and watching ALL of the videos. I’ve dropped the deposit and the order is in.
LuckyP’s Carrera T Spec
Manual (have to)
Tin roof (baldy)
4 way with std Sport Tex panels (like the nod to original T)
Rear seats in (kids)
RWS (Porsche experience Centre Silverstone 2 hr back to back test drive - result was a RWS win)
Bose (why not?)
Roof prep (never know)
Net in pass footwell (free)
PDLS + (again a back to back at OPC with matrix - I felt a little bit of a road hog with the high beam on all the time)
Light in footwells/rear seats (for the kiddies)
Heated leather wheel - (for the Mrs)
Side decal delete (I know what it is!!)
Cant bloody wait!!!! Due in January but actually happy if it is delayed a bit.
Anyway. Good to be back.
Laters all!!
Pete

The Boche paying maybe not Cameron is back ?
They look good to me the stickers I mean,
Seems as though you answered your own question. I had a TTS, but didn’t keep it long for the reasons you stated. The Carrera T is the road car to get imo. I don’t want more power for the street and the brakes are outstanding for spirited road driving.

It looks like the Standard Carrera T Interior Package with Sport-Tex Seat Centers and Stitching in Slate Grey or Lizard Green option gets you a slightly different Sport-Tex insert design pattern, contrast stitching of the 911 logo in the headrest and along the edge of the seats. Is that it? I hate to ask a personal question, but is that worth $2,410?
