992 Carrera T Club
Not a good day today. - no lights very dark outcome. Was nearly physically sick when called.
Car subject to theft of Matrix headlights overnight.
Clearly wing damage and paint required.
Not seen it yet but whatever the car is clearly not new as in the terms of factory fresh
Would you reject and try for another allocation (might be impossible?)
Or negotiate some terms ?
Meeting with dealer principal tomorrow.
Comments appreciated

Headlights can be replaced and damage repaired. See how extensive it was, and ask for pics. Share them here.
I wouldn’t necessarily throw the baby out with the bath water, they should be able to fix it and maybe give you a little discount because of this.

[QUOTE=Schn3ll;18917719]Did this happen while in the dealer’s possession? Before you purchased the car?

if all is just cosmetic damage I’d negotiate a couple months of upcoming payments for your inconvenience as well as obviously fixing all damage . I did this with a car I leased once that the engine blew in the second week of ownership

Yes I haven't paid for the car yet and it was at the dealer. (except the deposit)
I am sure it is repairable but still not with original factory paint.
Maybe I should just see tomorrow how bad it is and see what the dealer is prepared to offer or suggest as a way to resolve this misfortune.
Thanks for your comments,

I’d definitely negotiate a discount, but if there isn’t any damage besides yanking out the lights, some new paint on the hood and front quarters doesn’t change your driving or ownership experience one iota.

I'm sure they will fix it to factory standards and if you give the car up, I can guarantee you that you would regret the impending wait - you might also have your next allocation slip into another price increase. And when you say damaged wing, does that mean you have the aero kit? If so, that's currently unavailable again, so you may not be able to spec that next time around. You may also score some points with your dealer if you take a level-headed, reasonable approach and allow them to come to you with their proposed resolution.

I think when you change the wheels or add spacers, they really add visual continuity, flaring out to the wheel in a really organic manner. I've not seen them with a completely stock set-up but imagine they still look great.
I’ve never understood the fixation with original factory paint. Car panels are repainted all the time at port PDI, and you would never know, as they don’t share if your car was affected.
I’d definitely negotiate a discount, but if there isn’t any damage besides yanking out the lights, some new paint on the hood and front quarters doesn’t change your driving or ownership experience one iota.

9/9 NE T Meet participants - ATTENTION Please!
As mentioned in past, I plan on ordering custom T-shirts for all attendees as a gift for your efforts to attend this 992 T-mates event. I know some are coming from as far as Ohio! Haven’t done this before so just gonna do my best. Please don’t hate me later if it doesn’t turn out perfect. I’ll ask for sizes later, but for now I’d like a headcount of those arriving with a 992 T attending for sure 100%. Please simply respond yes to this post or PM me if so. I’m still 50/50 due to work, but if I absolutely can’t attend, @CengueFever is my neighbor and I’ll have him deliver on 9/9. Thanks to @tourenwagen for the awesome graphics to be printed on the shirts! West coast T-mates - u sure u don’t want to join us?!
I’ll post same message to the T-Party thread also.

I know you said to just post in one place, but I didn't read that part. lol

Oh, and btw, I know someone who works at the port, and he said the work they do there is far superior to body shop work. It's considered an extension of the factory. So while it is still paint repair, it's considered a factory paint repair.
