The trim panel in question is located under the rear window windshield wiper motor and the cabin, the best way to describe would be having dice in a plastic cup and rattle them with hand covering the cup, It's that bad. every little bump, acceleration or braking action cause to rattle, Issue is to have a custom built panel and clips matching a carpet color (2 months lead time), it drives me nuts, added to that the cricket in the engine bay... I come from an aviation background and trouble shoot with a stethoscope when needed to narrow down source. So far experience is negative and even selling car is not an option.

Out of interest, when were your cars built? Mine was May 2020, I’m looking for any pattern which connects our cars.

Sorry, but its not normal.
My car started to make this cricket at 3000km. So, normal is whithout this cricket as before, not like today.

2020 c2S and have cricket sound. Only heard it today because had windows down and sunroof open and driving by walls. Car has 9500 miles so I’m assuming it’s always been there (bought used). Some cars just make sounds. I came out of an r35 GTR and man that thing had some noises.

Default My guess !!!!! possible solution !!!!

Hi friends,

My car, 992 Turbo started to make this cricket at 3000km and I m very disapointed with it. Looks like Im using a defective car .

Searched everything about noises, etc I have a conclusion. I think there is a great possibility that is the wastegate or coin that control gas scape inside the turbine !!!!!!!

The coin may be loose and vibrating at certain times.

Default I have a weird chirping sound that Porsche dismissed

Hey guys

I have a high pitched chirping sound that can definitely be heard at slow speeds. But Porsche dismissed it and said it’s normal. Friends that I show the car to immediately hear it and ask me what it is. What do you guys think? It’s the high pitched chirping sound…it drives me nuts.

I had the same chirping on my '21 C2S.
I now have a '23 GTS and it clicks rather than chirp.
I'm hoping the clicking doesn't turn to chirping.

I don't hear anything but the turbos. There was a chirping sound that GT86/BRZs had that came from the high pressure fuel pump. Toyota said it was perfectly fine and they pretty much never fail. I wonder if it's a similar thing here. But honestly I don't hear anything out of the ordinary

Yep, that's the sound we've been talking about. Must say yours is likely the worst example I've heard. It's annoying but after a while you do kind of get used to it.

I just noticed yesterday while driving with no music playing that my new (120 miles) 992 T makes some "electronic" ...for lack of a better word "computer" type noises.....I'm assuming that this is normal...Anyone else hear this?

Indeed this is the noise. Same here on a 2023 TurboS. It's more of a clicking sound and frankly it drives me nuts. In the mechanical field that I work in we use stethoscopes. Has this ever been done with cars?

I bought a version of this product on the recommendation of Jake Raby. It is a Steelman Electronic Ear or Stethoscope. HIGHLY recommend. It allows you to isolate noise to a specific component.

@Gustavo-BR do you have any updates on your theory? Have you tried replacing any components to eliminate the issue?

I have a 2021 C4S and the chirping drives me nuts. I can hear it inside the vehicle as well. It happens at low rpm’s and when I take my foot off the brake. My local dealer AND Porsche NA say it’s normal. Sounds like crap for being normal, like something is wrong with it. It sure feels like a lot of us have complained for it not to be looked at more in depth by Porsche. You would think by now they could say “oh that noise is attributed to the x-y-z and is normal”.
