Bought my 2021 C2S out-of-state and trading in my car as part of the deal. For logistical reasons I will be dropping my old car off with them next week on 9/28 -- original plan was to be driving away in my new car but it's been sitting in Baltimore since early Sept so looks like no dice. I had intended to manage all the paperwork face-to-face while there next week (new car will be shipped to me) but was surprised when my SA told me this morning that the paperwork for the new car will have to be managed remotely because they (the dealer) have not been invoiced from Porsche yet -- ??

True. Until Porsche releases the cars from Port Hell, they cannot invoice the dealers.

Yah I did a pretrade and wanted to complete the transaction before hand.... but my buddy who is the manager said we can’t do the paperwork until it’s released to transport as it isn’t invoiced to dealer yet

I realize there was never any guarantee of delivery and all the frustration aside, I have no intention of walking away from my car (was surprised at the number of folks who seem to be really considering that option early-on in this thread). However, I am going to be beyond irritated if my dealer starts to hedge on the price they gave me for my trade-in back in July when I struck the deal. At the time, I think we both assumed the transaction would be complete by now, but with another month and a half of mileage and age on my A8 I am wondering how they will handle it next week.
I also intend to ask for consideration on the delivery cost of getting the new car to me --

Spent the day at my local Porsche dealer (on the East Coast). Local Porsche reps confirmed what has already been discussed on this thread. He mentioned the long delay in getting Porsche;s through emissions certification process, happened shortly after the Porsche diesel/emissions scandal of May 2019, in which Porsche paid over $600 mil in fines. He said prior to that mess, they only did emissions on a few Porsches (all models) in any given model year, but now, they do emissions on every Porsche that enters the US. Obviously, payback for trying to cheat the system.

Wondering if we know FOR SURE that the 2021 U.S. cars don't have the particulate filter? "For sure" meaning someone has had eyes on a 2021 car or an official statement from PCNA?

I wondered the same.

Reasoning is polite...I think they were trying to signal they would do everything possible to move quickly. After another conversation, I'm no longer convinced the comment was based on reasoning or fact.

My initial worry was after reading reports the 718 GT4/Spyder would have a GPF fitted in the US for MY21. I’m not 💯 sure if it came to be or not?

Nothing like a cold start flat-6 pulling out of the garage!

You’ll know right away if it has it or not... Hopefully it doesn’t.

All I know is the emissions block/hold is still on my car as of today.

also on a positive note, the date was changed with 12 days remaining last date ( on 8/31 it changed from 9/11 to 10/2), now we are 9 days away from my estimated pickup of 10/2 so maybe this is a good sign?

None of my dates have changed over the last two weeks. Still 10/2 at dealer. Still shows in transit estimate of 9/4. I keep expecting it to change again to a later date.

Smiles -- clicked both of your links in post #112, but at the risk of going down a rabbit hole, is there a simple reason we do not want to see the GPF activated on the 2021 model?

Simply put. It will choke the life out of the exhaust note. Effectively muffling the sound. 👎🏻
