The SAs are all over the place. Mine still expects my car today (it's a 2021). He advised me that's how it shows in their "system". That's even after I advised him what the Rennlisters are saying. I won't hold my breath though.

The only reason people knew on 9/3 is because their dealer got notification of shipping.
Excellent sleuthing...good to see the short gap between the certification and the actual release dates. Also, suggests the estimates could be conservative. Great day here in the Northeast and about to take my 991.1 C4S out for a spin.

My dealers sheet has the on sale date for every model. All C/4/4s/s models have a Porsche on sale date of 9/30. I assume, Porsche won't release any cars for sale until that date even with EPA's prior approval.

Not sure why that is as they have a lot of money tied up in produced cars waiting to be released.

that on sale date is subject to change... last year it was 9/8/2020 and they shipped to dealers prior to that.... I think the actual sale can’t occur until that dAte iirc.

Question

My car just left the factory, does anyone know how to view images of the car as it was being built?

Hi- I am getting ready to place my order for a 992 -- I currently have a black 991, and am debating getting black again or going with chalk... Here is my build codePMFGHMQ1 -- is there anything else you would add?

Thank you!

My dealer said they expected to have the car a few days earlier and would do the PPF and ceramic coat before the sale date which would save a few days. Would be cool.

I thought long and hard about a carbon fiber roof. In the end I spent the large sum it costs on other options because it can't save more than a few pounds over a standard aluminum roof. If you like the look though, and does it look fantastic with chalk, why not do a high quality carbon fiber wrap on the roof?

[QUOTE=markchristenson;16897526]Weird, given that deposits must be returnable in California. Great that you found an alternative![/QUOT

I had the same experience with SoCal dealers and went out of state too. My car will be delivered late November (I guess).

How do you plan to handle the out of state registration?

I was tossed up between chalk and aventurine green. I went with AG. I vote chalk with gloss black wheels.

I don't think the wraps look as good as carbon fiber... if I didn't do the carbon, I would do the glass top.

Its easy to register out of state cars specially new, just make appointment with DMV so you don't have to wait in long lines

what was their reasoning for saying they will have it a few days early?

I've found that it helps if you know, in advance, where the Engine Serial Number is and where the Emissions Label is. This should not be rocket science, but . . . . . then again, the highly skilled folks at the DMV can sometimes be at a loss. They may want you to come back another day when "X" who is either the "expert" or is at least someone other than themselves, will be there. You can stop this nonsense if you know where to find these numbers and label before you get to the DMV. have someone in the selling dealers service department show you where to look. The Label is usually easy to find: Drivers Door Jamb, Around the opening for the "hood" to the engine or Around the opening for the "Frunk". I believe the attached pictures (997.2) should be correct for the current 992 engine serial number location. (Pictures, shamelessly stolen from elsewhere in this BB.)

Our dealer is still saying 09/30 for release of sales of all 2021's...They bought our 2018 991.2 back from us early as they could not fulfill their promise to us because of this EPA Certification debacle. He told us they want the cars just as bad as we do as their inventory is low...
